From a user on eBay. Ask if they had the R2D2 part from the Dagobah set. They recommended the forum and post on the most wanted section.

Mine was a Google search. Got back into collecting and wanted to speak to others about collecting 👍👍

In the very early days when it was brand new I used to put slips of paper with the link and a description in with toys I sold on eBay. But it mostly took off organically really, it was quite lucky.

Now there is a question! I've been on here that long I can't remember in all honesty, most likely a google search

Like wise, I think I have been on here for ehhh 20 years, give or take, in various guises. The old forum, the old old forum, the older old old forum that died cos of a dodgy data transfer (that right @edd_jedi ?). Not quite from the very start but not far off it.

**** knows how much time I've spent on here. Almost all of it is talking *****…..about football or anything non SW related lol.

My friend soeren told me about the forum, we were both on tig but the tone on the forum became very bad and a few collectors on tig thought they were better than other members. My friend Soeren learned about this forum and told me about it and we both left tig and joined this fantastic forum where the tone is always great and no one thinks they are better than other members (y)

I joined quite a while ago now, initially finding via google search, joined to ask questions as was starting to collect vintage SW with my Son, we had done the usual of buying anything SW prior to that!
By joining this forum and asking questions I received great wide ranging advice that allowed me to build a little knowledge and find my feet, through this forum I have met online some great people and received advice, support kind gestures and know that there is always good advice whenever needed.
We have lost some great members over the years and found some great new members, BUT this forum is always one that is non judgemental, a safe environment, and a wealth of knowledge, where new and seasoned collectors alike feel comfortable in this Social media age of FB and the like it's a breath of fresh air.
Great place and long may it continue.

Back in 98-2000 ish my mate set up a website, nuke-it-clean.net to promote his music. We would write it on chalkboards in local club toilets etc. Don't even think there were fliers. So naive really

Ultimately it was a Google search for buying vintage Star Wars. Shortly after joining I had a query about a Hoth Luck blaster, which was helpfully answered by @itfciain. Shortly after that @Frunkstar ran a competition to win a Jabba baggie/unused Jabba - @ScruffyLookingNH actually won, but as he had one he deferred to me. I'm still mates will all the above, chatting to various degrees monthly.

TIG was an offshoot from here. I can't remember the exact reasons now

From memory it was started by variant collectors who became a tad too obsessive and drifted away as this place has always been more laid back. I don't think there was a falling out though.

I met Grant at Farthest From and told him I was thinking of joining Rebel Scum. He was horrified and insisted I join here instead. This is the only social media platform I go on, I should try and post more often

I think it was a Google search for me, back in 2012, I think? I joined about a month after Michael Sith, and I do recall we both felt very 'green', but we were welcomed in to the collecting fold in no time. I was off work after a hernia op, couldn't do a great deal apart from type on a keyboard haha, those six weeks I had recuperating flew by… made some great friends on here, acquired tons of invaluable advice, and willingly parted with a lot of cash!! I remember having a look at other SW forums around that time and I was always shocked at the way people were dismissed and talked down to. No need for that kind of snooty behaviour. Thankfully I've never experienced that on SWFUK, which is why I've returned after a very long hiatus. Long may it continue!

Without joining this forum I wouldn't have had the chance to meet such fine folk in person: the likes of Grant, Jez and many others at the Prince of Wales theatre in London for an anniversary screening of ROTJ, that was a memorable meet up of like minded SW fanatics! Great memories. Jeremy Bullock did a Q&A afterwards, and when he was leaving the auditorium he passed by me and quipped 'nice suit'. I was very much in my tweed wearing phase back then… I felt I had to don a three-piece knowing Boba Fett was in attendance… although I do remember Grant not understanding why I wasn't wearing my newly acquired SWFUK tee-shirt. I doubted my wardrobe choice initially, but after Jeremy gave me that compliment out of the blue and shook my hand before I could lunge forward and express my gratitude, I felt suitably assured in my choice of garb on that day. Good times!!
