latest film/ dvd you have seen

Iv'e been a busy boy, here's what iv'e seen in the past 7 days, all are ones iv'e seen for the first time...
Ghost In The Shell
Solo
Thor Ragnarok
Spiderman Homecoming
Avengers Infinity War
Gotta be honest, these are all pretty much '8 out of 10 films' for me, so not too sure which has been my favourite, I have to count out Solo because i'm pretty biased towards Star Wars so the fanboy in me is always gonna say that's the best one just cus it's Star Wars, and I seen Solo in 3D too which adds a bit of fake wow factor that has nothing to do with the film itself.
So i'll try and be as unbiased as possible and go with the one that made me smile the most, and that's Thor Ragnarok.
On a side note I also watched the Batman trilogy over the past week ( Christopher Nolan ), i'll keep those separate from my list because iv'e seen them about 5 or 6 times. :lol:

I really enjoyed this.
It is exactly what you expect... a Jurassic Park film from start to finish. nothing challenging, no concepts to understand, running around, screaming, lots of dinosaurs, a bad guy, a kid... couldn't have wanted more personally. Sure, its not original in concept or design, but its a vehicle that works and will keep working.

Ignoring the fact it's about dinosaurs that have been brought back to life, and without giving any of it away, I just thought it was badly let down by the "plot". Very poor, unoriginal and predictable. The rest of it was fine/good, but the plot let it down so badly.
I dunno, I kinda liked the idea of a rescue mission and I liked the alternate reason for that too (trying to not give too much away).. I think the thing that lets it down and has let all of them down after the first is the kid. Having said that, the kid(s) are a good thing for other children watching to relate to and in turn make the whole thing more scary maybe.

Saw this today and was very disappointed. Really enjoyed the last one, but agree with you Weasel, the plot was atrocious! Felt like a complete mish mash of Jurassic World/The Lost World in lots of ways (which certainly isn't a good thing!). Must have taken 5 minutes tops to come up with that plot. I was actually bored and it only held my attention in the last 20 minutes or so. There was also very little in the way of humour. I've watched JW several times now, but doubt very much if I'll be watching this one again. My boys liked it though.

Simply a brilliant film!
Well filmed, outstanding writing, acting that puts most to shame in the current era (Dench, Izzard and Fazal are amazing) the supporting actors are all excellent too... really is no weakness to any performances at all. There is history, humour, sadness and unfortunately real horror behind this interpretation of this 'true story' too.

I know I'm terribly late to the party on this one, but broadly speaking Marvel movies do little for me. I was though encouraged by the wife to sit and watch it as my Son had seen it an really enjoyed it.
Started ok, I actually commented on how clever it was that the backdrops actually look illustrated in (possibly due to their colourization), I found the middle was forgettable and the end an utter joke. Not a lot more I can say really. I'm certainly not going to get into a load of detailed reasons why it turned me off and doesn't work etc. I know folk really like them, they just don't suit my taste I guess and having never read the comics, I have no affinity to the characters or stories.
I have to therefore stand by my notion that all Marvel films to date have been poor at best with the exception of GotG that I actually really enjoyed from start to finish.
Whenever the infinity one is on Sky, I'll still watch it of course... just in case :wink:

Decided to have a reset last night and watch a movie I knew I loved. Simply some of the best photography in any film ever for me... Tony Scott in the hot seat pulled together a whole new appreciation for dogfighting in 'modern' planes with the way he shot this.
Despite the massive plot issue when they've won one real life dogfight against the old enemy of mother Russia and Maverick is immeadiately (as one of the best in the entire USAF) given the option of retirement to become a teacher! It's a bloody good film.
My 14 year old daughter sat and watched it with me and loved it too, so it's not just sentimental eyes either...
