latest film/ dvd you have seen

Watched Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters last night. Enjoyable enough but very played down, I thought the first was better. I think watching any fantasy genre film after the hobbit was always going to be a bad option. The film played out as simple and one dimensional without any sense of danger etc. all very nice to watch but somehow forgettable, a third film is due out in 18 months and I hope they just increase the complexity a bit and not just play for action sequences.

Watched the sequal, thought it was really good, only thing that bugs me about this and the first hobbit is the use of cg orcs, the main orc bad guy azog, just looks of to me, the scaring on his boddy looks painted on, to much of a highlight on the wounds, i'd have prefered more practical effects, but thats the makeup fx guy in me.
Storywise it left you wanting more which is great, bad we to wait another year to see what happens next, roll on the extended edition

Saw second installment of the Hobbit on Saturday, I actually found it quite boring in parts way too long and drawn out, I actually couldn't wait for it to end :!:

6/10

Conclusion THE BOOK IS FAR BETTER, IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT :|

I've said it before, give the French film "Tell No One" a go.

Written by the excellent American author Harlan Coben. It was the first Coben book i read. I now own 23 of his titles.
The book was going to be turned into a Holywood movie but Coben didn't like what they wanted to d with it so he told them what to do with themselves.
It one several awards (French) and is a thrilling film you can watch with your chick or with a group of lads. I've done both.

Go on, promise yourself you'll look for it.

i recently watched:

Escape plan - ok, usual crap acting and not being shot by 20 guys, watchable.

Bad Grandpa - some cringeworthy bit, some hilarious bits, some stupid bits, worth a watch though.

went to see 12 years a slave yesterday, thought it was really good, bit brutal in parts, definately not safe for kids, but definately worth a watch,
Also finally watched raiding the lost ark, a filmumentary on the making of raiders, if your a fan and haven't seen it give it a watch

he also has done the same with star wars empire and jedi, again if you like making off stuff watch these

Watched American Hustle last night. Good film made better by strong performances from the leading 4. Non of whom i've ever been that bowled over with in the past (save Bale in The Fighter). Bale especially puts in a stellar performance in the lead role and is a strong contender for the Best Actor Oscar next month.

Went to "12 Years a Slave" the previous weekend and must say it's defenitly a must see.
It's a typical Oscar type winning movie, but you'll get sucked into the story and feel for the guy.

had a day off work . so sat about and done nothing had jaws 1- 4 on one after the other , allthough 3 and 4 are not embraced i still like em

that captain phillips worth a watch? looks ok from the trailer.
I watched enders game, not bad, i only watched it as harrison ford was in it, the whole time he was on screen i kept thinking yeah he could pull Han off again :D

Just watched ' Lone Survivor ' it was the most moving film I have seen in a long time, even at the end of the movie when it shows pics of the real soldiers it brought a tear to my eye, words can't express the respect I have for the real men that were sent out on that mission and the courage these men have.

Now about the film 10/10 amazing from start to finish, when the **** hit the fan all I was thinking was I wish Rambo would pop up and help these guys out :D
