Just watched an Adam Sandler film and enjoyed it!!

as a trashy, comedic, sentimental and generally naff family flicks go, I actually really enjoyed this one. Not that I'd recommend you all rush out to see it, but if you have a spare 1:45 and want to sit through something mindless, go for it, its just a bit of fun

I have just finished watching the "Dyatlov Pass Incident" (Devils Pass) movie and i have to say it was a total waste of the £1 which I paid for it.
Absolutely terrible I always like a good horror but that was a complete load of balls. What attracted me to it was the title name because I have an interest in the original "Dyatlov" incident. I can't understand who pays for these things to get made and then hoping it brings back some sort of healthy return.
It said on the cover that the director of Die Hard 2 & Cliffhanger was behind the reins for it. I thought this might be OK then but after 15mins things got continually more ***** regarding the whole story. I don't like not finishing a movie but that came very close tonight.

Pretty OK, but felt very paint by numbers, a very cut and paste format. I usually read the IMDB reviews of a film, but other people's opinions will piss me off, so won't on this one as I can sort of half guess what they'll be. Basically, I would love to know how of this was true to life, and how much was BS so it could be made into a film and not upset certain groups.

Baby driver was pretty good though. I'd give it 8/10. Extremely well cast, great editing, good story and script.

The trailer for WOTPOTA did look alright, but given how utterly dreadful the first rebooted one was, I haven't bothered wasting my time going to see any of the others.
The trailer did also have the feel of a trailer that had been incredibly carefully edited to make a dreadful film look good.
Honestly Hollywood, if you put more effort into making something ******* original, rather than churning out endless superhero movies, Transformer movies, and Fast and Furious movies with 90% of the budget spent on the talentless 'stars', lots of explosions, special effects and advertising complete with a rehashed script from a primary school kids homework book......then more people would go to watch your films.
Good original films beat *****, OTT, flogged to death sequels/prequels and reboots every single time.

Apes has had very good reviews so far. 94% fresh on RT. Pretty impressive. Spidey is also similar.
Glad that the latest Pirates and Transformers films have totally underperformed- been a total shower of ***** for years, yet people keep watching them. Hopefully the penny has finally dropped with the public and the studios will stop making them.

Meh... pretty dreadful, couple of twists... actually, I strongly believe that any Dan Brown book turned into a film is on a hiding to nothing as he is simply one of the worst writers that has ever been published... which is n doubt why the masses lap up his pulp fiction drivel.

I've been meaning to watch this for quite some time, but getting some quiet time without kids needing a lift or making a noise, to give it the attention I had expected it deserved was pretty tough in my house. Today was that day.
This is an extraordinary piece of film making and an even more extraordinary story being told. Having just finished watching it, I'm still trying to digest what I saw...certainly not a simple story told loosely; its a tight, edgy, slightly darkly shot, thing of beauty that if you haven't seen, I beg you to give it priority as soon as you possibly can.

Oh I remember that one! Your right it's a dark movie with an edge alright its not what I was expecting at all. A very good watch i had never heard much about it before so had no idea what to expect. After watching it I did read a bit into its background. I won't say to much incase someone wants to give it ago. But I would say don't read about it just watch it first that's what I done. I always love watching movies that I don't know too much about the story. I think that's why Foxcatcher caught me a bit off guard by the time it was finished. I remember watching it with the wife and after it was over it took awhile to sink in.
It's one of those movies that you watch and you'll probably never have interest to watch again. But you'll always remember the imprint it leaves.

Anyone else seen Split? Really intriguing "horror" story starring James McAvoy and directed by M. Night Shyamalan (director of Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs). Looks like he's maybe setting it up for a franchise.

This one stars Brian Cranston of Breaking Bad/Malcom in the Middle fame and despite flying under the radar from the big blockbuster profile, is actually far batter than most of the ones I've seen in that league recently. Not all out action by any means, so don't expect a load of guns and car chases, but pretty good all the same.
Oh and its based on a true story which always adds some extra interest to me...

Finally got round to watching Mad Max Fury Road. Ok film. Stylistically - beautifully shot and the action sequences are awesome.
Not sure I'd put it in the top 50 best films of all time like Empire did though?

I myself watched Guardians of The Galaxy last night on blu ray, probably the 5th or 6th time iv'e seen it 8)

Not a bad film this, once you get over the daft Sci Fi thing. I mean who really wants to watch a film about aliens and different planets when there are rom coms and period dramas on!? Other than that though it's pretty good, you guys might like it. It is sadly lacking in female nudity though.

I meant to watch this in the cinema but never got a chance. It's set during WW2 and tells the story of conscientious objector who refused to carry a gun but still wanted to help out. It wasn't quite what i was expectcing. I thought it would be a war film with a conscientious objector as one of the main characters but instead it was a film about a conscientious objector that was set during a war. That maybe doesnt sound like much of a difference but it does give the film a different feel. It's not preachy at all, if it was i woulda turned it off in seconds, but it is subtly different from other war films. I'm not sure how much of it is, if you'll excuse the pun, gospel and how much is Hollywood playing with the truth but it does sound like the vast bulk is at least based on fact. There is one scene at the end that sceams BS, but other than that it's most definitely worth watching. Not sure Vince Vaughn pulls off the tough guy sergeant but that's a very minor gripe. Defintely one i'd advise watching if you get a chance.

This one had escaped me before, no idea when it came out. It's got Jake Gylnenhall in it. It's a tad formulaic but not too bad. Basic plot is scientists find life in the soil on Mars and test it on the international space station. It grows at an exponential rate and then starts killing them. It then becomes a fairly well troded human versus alien monster film. It's not bad though, it easily killed 2 hours. Not sure i'd watch it again but that's not to say it wasn't good.
The big Lebowski
I always hear good things about this film, cult classic and supposedly very funny. If cult classic translates as '******* *****' then that's spot on. Granted it was the fourth film I watched back to back and i was clean bucked at the time, but dear god it's *****. The plot is pish, there's not much really happens and John Goodman's character is one of the most annoying i've seen since Jarjar ******* binks. Honestly one of the worst films I've seen in a long long time. If you're thinking of watching this I suggest you find a nice sturdy wall and headbutt it as hard as you can. The two hours you spend semi conscious wondering WTF you did will be more enjoyable than watching that ***** stoner movie. Just don't.
Alien Covenant.
The only film I watched en route home thanks to jetlag. I'd seen it in the cinema and was quite disappointed in it. Second viewing only reenforced that feeling. It's not a bad film, it's quite fast paced and has plenty of blood and guts but I just can't help shaking the feeling it's so much less than it could have been. The Alien universe has such rich source material that these films should be so much more than just bland slasher movies. From what I hear the studio has pulled the plug on Ridley Scott's plans for a third part to the Prometheus/Covenant story. I can't say i'm overly disappointed. The first two Alien films were faantastic, and both very different. Since then it has just become a series of rehashes of the same old except now we get some psychobable about Engineers, the creation of life and an Android with genocidal tendencies. Such a let down. It's kinda like having a kid who aces every exam they ever take, has offers to study law/medicine at Oxford and Cambridge and instead drops out and spends their life as a jobbing actor living hand to mouth. There's nothing wrong with being a jobbing actor but when you are so smart it does seem like a bit of a waste. The same goes for Covenant. It's not a bad film but it could and should have been soooooo much more. Massive let down. And why we need 57 characters who get 2 mins of screen time each i'll never know. Either have more character development at the start or just relegate a few of them to the role of nameless cannon fodder.
