Big old film day today:
Prisoners - every bit as gritty and twisted as I was led to believe. Jackman and Gyllnehaal are outstanding and even if the subject matter is hard the payoff is worth it.
White House down - big dumb and a lot of fun. Nothing much to say switch off and watch total Nonsense for 2Hrs.
Runner runner - slightly disappointing, enjoyable enough and the acting talent was strong but somehow I didn't quite care who got away with what. Enjoyable enough watch but could have been better.
Rush - what to say, engrossing, absorbing, dramatic. Great performances all round, one to watch.

watched an proper ridiculous film my mate gave me today called "a nymphoid barbarian in dinosaur hell " so bad it was good but still bad lol i struggled to get through it ,one of those 70s banned films with terrible costumes and effects on the same dvd label as cannibal holocaust

The Langoliers (Stephen King)
This film was originally made in 1995 for TV and is about two hours long. Being made for TV the effects are rubbish but you have to look past that as the story is very good. The actors are B listers at best but you will recognise some of them - Dean Stockwell from Quantum Leap anyone 8)
The story is fairly basic - a small group of travelers on a passenger jet find themselves set back 15 minutes in time having fallen asleep onboard the plane. Everyone else has vanished into thin air leaving just this small group consisting of a blind kid, a druggy teenage girl, a nerd, a musician, some random bloke who just eats sandwiches, a pilot, a writer, a James Bond army dude, a milf school teacher and a complete psycho.
They land the plane and the earth is still as we know but devoid of any life. There is nothing except a weird noise which, at first, can only be heard by the blind girl....
The Langoliers is worth watching so I don't want to put any spoilers on here. If you have watched other Stephen King made for TV films and liked them then watch this.

Sounds good i'll give it a watch, i've seen and enjoyed a few of his made for movies, IT, Salems Lot , etc, they are all worth a watch
It is a decent film. Just keep an opened mind with the effects and 90's wardrobe.
My favourite SK film is Christine, although I do love others such as The Stand. The Stand would be better if the cheesy music and a few crap scenes were cut.

Couple of odd ones:
Girl Most Likely - assuming and a bit offbeat, more of an introspective comedy . Harmless watch.
R.I.P.D. - in a word stupid. Fun enough and a likeable cast helps but not much more than a throw a away watch.

A rare trip to the cinema - The Lego Movie (what else)
It was great, laughed throughout, well written and a great story. The voice telnet is top notch and the animation is perfect for the story, no spoilers, get youself down the flicks and see this one, you won't be disappointed.

I took my son to see the Lego Movie over the weekend. Wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The film was brilliant. Great animation and story line. I would highly recommend a visit to the cinema to watch it.
Recently I saw 4 movies and all had quite a different impact on me...
1. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug - Sad to say but just mediocre and for that...a bit too long.
2. Dallas Buyers Club - Awesome movie with great actors and a real story behind it. loved it!
3. Robocop - oh well....srsly? Should have invested the ticket money for a figure.
4. 12 Years a Slave - Wow, after I saw the movie I got his book, which you can get free on the net, and started to read the story again. Really got under my skin! Goosebumps & Tears...

Watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the weekend with my daughter. Never seen this film before in my life.
What a pile of *****.
She loved it though. Especially as she had just seen the 'real' Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car at Beaulie Motor Museum the day before.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec 2010 a luc besson film Indiana jones meets the mummy kinda thing but in french. it was ok visuals good a solid 6/10

Just watched Kick Ass 2, must say I really enjoyed both films, but you have to take them at what they are, good fun though.
Probably way behind here, I usually take a while to get round to watching new films.
Captain Phillips....
IMO...one of the best I've seen in a long time, just watched on Blu ray
Superb...tense had me gripped all the way through.
Superb acting by Hanks once again, the guy is genius, the Somalian guys they used for the pirate parts were also brilliant
All in all a cracker, great watch 8)

I'm always the first to complain that there's never anything good out there but right now- Wolf of Wall Street, Dallas Byers Club, Captain Phillips, Her, American Hustle, Gravity all really good movies. And i've still yet to see 12 Years a Slave which everyone is raving about.
I also watched Inside Llewyn Davis last week which i don't think will be everyone's cup of tea but i really liked it. Not your typical Cohen Brothers film but definitely worth a watch.
Oh and i watched Ender's Game a couple of night ago. That was ******* ****.
But, still, a lot of good stuff this/last year.

Been off sick for a few days so nothing much to do but catch up on a few films.
End of watch - very watchable the cast is great and draws you in to the story, just watch out for the punch.
Captain Philips - Tom Hanks has to be one of the greatest living actors and he provided his usual polished performance again. Although it is worth noting the supporting cast turn in great performances of their own and the story is as compelling as it gets.
Filth - not really sure what to say, James MaKvoy is mesmerising in the role and the film is certainly entertaining and just a little f&@ed up worth a watch but be warned it probably isn't one to watch on date night
Gravity - visually stunning and dramatic. Sandy B, as Raj says 'Brings it home'. But for all that maybe a bit over hyped and for all that it is and it is a good film I found myself more drawn to drama in Captain Philips or even Rush as stories, maybe that is just real life v's pure fiction.

A very rare cinema trip - Captain America, Winter Soldier
Great film, quite distinct in the marvel universe and an almost grownup tone. Still plenty of one liners, in jokes, connections to marvel films past, present and future. For those familiar with the WS story I think it walks the line well and treats the source material with respect but translates to the cinema universe where needed. The overall story is tight and insular enough to explain the lack of other major super heroes, something Thor sort of failed to do. The caring is great and this is a very enjoyable movie.

Just watched "Starred up" at the cinema,, WOW what a movie, Jack O'Connell's performance is amazing.

I'm planning to get down to see it at some point but it will probably be next week.
It's got Tom Cruise in it so half the film will be spent with shot of him looking cool, shots of him looking tough, shots of him looking "sexy", shots of him being all bad ass (as bad ass as 3 foot midget can be) and repeat over and over and over again. But the concept looks interesting enough. It'll kill 2 hours.

Watched X-Men Days of Future Past via some dodgy website (enough said about that) 8) Great film, in fact that good I intend to part with some cash and watch it on the big screen.
Dragged the missus down to see the 20th anniversary re-screening of Pulp Fiction in the local world of cinnie recently.
Gotta say i'd forgotten how ******* good that film was. Clothes are a bit dated now, as are the mobiles, but still absolute quality. 8)
