I think the main problem is the varying opinion on what a "beater" truly is. For example, this 12a Ben Kenobi I own is one of the worst offenders i've seen while the 77a Luke Jedi falls under the best I own. So does anyone think that Ben Kenobi is awesome?

cool i got a fx-7 today for 70p well happy with that looked ok but when it comes i will find out and i got 10 carded figures for £150 not bad as there are 2 last 17 in there lumat and paploo
 
i had about 6 carded figures that were all on ripped or torn cards but still sealed with yellow bubbles soi sent them to be graded but told them to open them up then grade them all came back 95nm well happy its a good way to get high graded figure because you can pick the knacked cards up quite cheap
 
Thought id post these in the right section this time,

A nice droids boba with mint bubble, figure and coin. card a bit rough at top.

And the Lili Ledy Boba Fett

i have opened figs as good as that luke ,dont care its great to be 8 years old again even for a few seconds ,though i am done with it now as like you say if you wait you can get a mint loose fig for a good price

I thought being 8yrs old again meant chucking them round the garden and pretending they were real, I don't think the 3-4 seconds it takes to rip them off the cards brings back any memory whatsoever for me lol

And if that's the case, you can do that with any loose figure you want lol, just don't let your neighbours see you playing with them in the garden!

The Ben is definitely a beater imo but the Luke looks in great nick and it would be a crying same to see that MOC opened for such an abundant loose figure.
 
The Ben is a 12 Back man.
If I owned that Ben I wouldn't dream of ripping it off the card.
Imagine if that busted arse thing was actually yours from way back when you were a kid.....Would you open it now still or would you keep it coz you have had it for so long now and it means a lot more to you now ?
These aren't toys anymore guys these are collectables. If you want to open toys and feel like an 8yr old again why not just go buy some of the crap they are selling nowadays, there is enough of a choice :P

I agree with you 110% and that was kind of my point. Depending on what they are attached to, even beaters can be untouchable. I would never open that bad boy up! It's a 12A for goodness sake! 8) The Luke is the same, it's such a common figure on such a nice card, it's pointless to open him up. Now, a beater "Lili-Ledy" Logray on a US card? Well, sometimes exceptions can be made. In my opinion of course.

However, this whole thing has opened my eyes to something I already knew and will adopt from here on out, "Don't ask, don't tell"... :)
 
Goin on condition alone, I would have no objections to someone opening that Ben. But with it being a 12 back etc then obviously that makes a difference. If it was some ******, common as muck Jedi figure then, yeah go on ahead.

The Luke I would say is in too good condition to open. The bubble is yellow as ****, heck it's nearly brown but the card looks great and there are no dings on the bubble that I can see.

It's a grey area though, one man's beater is another man's perfectly displayable MOC.

But Jay is right, destroying something that has been graded 80+ JUST to TRY and get a nice "U" grade is ******* criminal.

btw, love the way you collect variants & yet you say there's a definite 4 left for you to get to complete your collection (including "some ******* ewok" - bollux's words not mine!). I wish i could stop moving my goalposts!
 
I was strict and only collected a maximum of two variants, the most obvious ones, eg hair colour or camo no camo lapels etc
 
Droids Boba looks good Andy. I imagine it was still a pretty penny even with the rough card.

Jedi534, congrats on picking up the Boba Fett flyer. Are you going to try and get the whole mailer to complete it?

Nice brown haired Luke Bollux. Looks to be in pretty good shape.

Nowhere near yet Joe i have about 40 figures including a few variants (a by product of trying to get minty examples but im starting to like them lol)

Need all the last 17 :( but i have a lot of the ones im missing loose on MOC so im in no rush.

Im just picking up a few a week. Still getting the odd MOC in as well.

Hi mate, are you referring to the Lili Ledy Boba for the blaster or the Droids, the boba blaster is black?

Skemps - yeah he wasnt a cheap moc, but it fits my collection for now, and i can sell the droids boba coin i recently bought.

That is a nice MOC Jay , thought you were going after Trilogos ?

I am about 4 away from my set, I still need Pop up R2, A wing pilot, and 2 more but along the way I keep seeing figures I could upgrade LOL

Should hear back from the guy who might make my display case tomorrow so it's only a matter of time before I have them displayed again, can't wait!
