I paid twice as much for my crappy loose LL Logray  . Finding mint loose figures is sometimes a pain and expensive. If I found beater MOCs of figures I wanted loose and mint I may be tempted to bust some open  Luckily I'm not too fussy with condition.

I dont think there is an issue with anyone opening a beater for their own personal enjoyment, its yours and you arent making a profit or hording decent cards. It makes sense sometimes.

Oh brother another one to go down on the CACFA hitlist
Am I silly in thinking the same principals from the tusken raider story could have been applied to the Logray MOC?
Can you define CACFA please?

I like to know what that stands for lol

Its a shame another MOC has bit the dust at least it was a relatively common figure / card that was in average shape i.e visible card creases that break the colour clear bubble though plus it was not done for the destuctive pursuit of a U90 label. :|

CRIMES AGAINST CARDED FIGURES AUTHORITY

Funny thing is everyone always says its cheaper to buy a MOC and rip it open than to buy a mint figure, thats because of all the silly money loose + variant collectors are willing to cough up in the first place

If people started paying reasonable amounts for loose figures and variants there would be no need to rip existing figures off their cards or out of their baggies, I mean there are plenty about!

Patience is a good thing, I learnt it , sure others can!

You hit the nail on the head Joe it all boils down to a lack of patience!

Chaz's mate who is thinking of tearing up a MISB droids playset just to try and get a U90 3 legged R2 is a prime example!

The people destroying MOC's for U grades specifically those tearing through dozens of them for U90's and even those that are tearing up good MOC's for variants to me need to learn to be more patient.

Look at MOC collectors for crying out loud many of the guys wait years upon years for the right MOC cardback figure combination to come up to fill the gaps in their run.

MOC's been destroyed just makes their quest that bit more difficult.

Just my opinion and im not trying to bash anyone.

I also think if someone wants a mint loose figure for their own collection, there is absolutely nothing wrong with someone opening a figure they bought.

Of course its there right to do that after all its there property. I personally have stated and will state again for the record i don't care about really bad beaters been opened.

The fact still remains that opening up quality MOC examples for loose figures will have a negative long term effect on MOC collecting and is a destructive rather than preservative way to collect which will ultimately impact other collectors.

The worst of the situation is the agressive U90 collectors who are destorying dozens of high quality MOC's in pursiut of the U90 label day in day out at the moment.

No matter how you look at it boils down to a self centered belief system and a serious lack of patience and care for the wider preservation of the hobby.

I think the main problem is the varying opinion on what a "beater" truly is. For example, this 12a Ben Kenobi I own is one of the worst offenders i've seen while the 77a Luke Jedi falls under the best I own. So does anyone think that Ben Kenobi is awesome?

cool i got a fx-7 today for 70p well happy with that looked ok but when it comes i will find out and i got 10 carded figures for £150 not bad as there are 2 last 17 in there lumat and paploo

i had about 6 carded figures that were all on ripped or torn cards but still sealed with yellow bubbles soi sent them to be graded but told them to open them up then grade them all came back 95nm well happy its a good way to get high graded figure because you can pick the knacked cards up quite cheap

Thought id post these in the right section this time,

A nice droids boba with mint bubble, figure and coin. card a bit rough at top.

And the Lili Ledy Boba Fett

Did you get a nice U grade?

I thought being 8yrs old again meant chucking them round the garden and pretending they were real, I don't think the 3-4 seconds it takes to rip them off the cards brings back any memory whatsoever for me lol

And if that's the case, you can do that with any loose figure you want lol, just don't let your neighbours see you playing with them in the garden!

The Ben is definitely a beater imo but the Luke looks in great nick and it would be a crying same to see that MOC opened for such an abundant loose figure.

The Ben is a 12 Back man.
If I owned that Ben I wouldn't dream of ripping it off the card.
Imagine if that busted arse thing was actually yours from way back when you were a kid.....Would you open it now still or would you keep it coz you have had it for so long now and it means a lot more to you now ?
These aren't toys anymore guys these are collectables. If you want to open toys and feel like an 8yr old again why not just go buy some of the crap they are selling nowadays, there is enough of a choice :p
