What most people call "proofs" are actually just unused cardbacks. The term "proof" is thrown around a little too loosly IMO. A proof is usually a one sided sheet used to make corrections or verify that all is good so the final printing process can proceed. The 2 sided finals are production pieces even if they are uncut sheets. So, all those "proof" Revenge cardbacks are actually unused production pieces, not proofs and those Comic-Con ones are the same.

Thank you... :D

Its a fine line and the terminology is probably a little inaccurate but proofs ARE a step before production cardback actually, at least with vintage pieces.

All "proof cards" exhibit different punches to the final versions and can have squared off corners, the uncuts or ones with borders didnt even get that far.

Although the term "proof" is broadly used I agree, a cromalin is really a proof in the respect that its the piece that is marked for changes before production.

Our proofs are like first shots (I guess first run or test cards could be some kind of term) they were run off the production line for various reasons, testing the printer, using for mock ups and toy displays etc. Many proofs had figures glued to them for this purpose.

As far as I understand it and from owning some I wouldn't personally say a proof is exactly the same as an unused cardback - it's definitely a different stage and the characteristics are slightly different.

Sorry for the ramble

Oh and cheers for the pricing Jason! I remember seeing a POTF 8D8 QC sample on the bay a long while ago, not close enough to pre production for me but still neat, I still vowed never to go into modern though :p

A funny thing happened today, got a tip-off from my Mom that there was a guy selling star wars at a local car boot sale, a couple of seconds later and i am down buying a beater lot, but then saw the fett

ok everything else i am buying is just to fill gaps in what i am calling my "beater loose run" as i am not to pushed for mintyness, but the fett is nice. And the whole lot for cheap too.

Any ideas on what a 12"fett loose is worth? This one was €8 or about £6.

It's got a wicked suntan but looks in good enough nick and for 6 quid you cant complain. Paint some of that Retrobrite gel on it and see if you can get him nice and new looking again :)

:D
well my mum runs the local community centre so i get first heads up when someone marks 'toys' on their form and i am down there before opening, :p

he had lots of clone and prequel stuff, and prices were fair but in some cases he was not to aware of what it was he had.
For example has anyone seen the applause models of han in stromtrooper outfit and darth vader?? kinda cool but not my style but he had em for pretty cheap,
The loose stuff was almost all chewed and there were some figures i wanted but they were too bad to get.

as for the potf 2? 12" well the packaging seemed right but it could be later.
i rememeber he had a imperial commander 12" MISB??

and there was some more mini rigs and an annihilated x-wing but it was too wrecked.

but he will be back in a few weeks so i could look out for stuff if folks were interested.

steve

ah the applause figures are the vinyl 10" Classic series from 1996-2000.

thanks rebel scum archive , although han in stormtrooper was almost worth it

I just need a bluey and a vinyl-cape to complete my loose collection (incl. main variatiants) :D

Lee: congrats on the recent ESB Palitoy, especially the Lando.
The White Bespin guard is supposed to be one of the hardest to find 30 backs, so well done.
love the R2D2 on the ESB cards, especially a Palitoy to boot.
