Feedback question

I was leaving feedback for a seller today and when it came to the "How satisfied were you with the seller's communication?" I gave him a 2 star rating, for the simple reason that I didn't hear a ****ing word from him after I bought the item.
Am I being harsh?
If he sends me no communication I can hardly give him a 5 star rating can I?
The transaction was fine and there were no problems, so I do feel kind of bad about it, but........

2 is probably a bit harsh - but then as you say without communication what can you do? I always send an email when the item is posted to let the buyer know it is on the way and to look out for it.

If the seller hasn't left you any feedback yet and is one of those anal types that monitors their average score then they may well retaliate - this is why the star system doesn't work because leaving the stars can still be attributed to you.

They have already left me feedback.
When I sell I email the buyer to let them know it's been posted as well. That's part of the reason he got his 2.

If the item arrives quickly and in perfect conditon I always give 5 stars for communication, who cares if they have communicated or not? When I sell items I never send a message to the buyers telling them I have posted the item etc and I hardly ever get one from sellers either.

I always send emails saying I've posted the item, and I expect the same.

2 stars is a bit harsh but the sentiment is right

If a seller has sold 50+ items at the same time would you prefer they spent all day e-mailing buyers or wrapping the parcels and taking them to the post office !!

I dont usually send email telling the buyer. I just try and post it quick
