A Christmas ditty ..had to be done! Not being condescending or pious, just a genuine post
Take a moment at this festive time
to remember what it is all about, not just presents and mulled wine,
but the memories of years gone by,
and those no longer with us, so let us try,
to rekindle the simple things we did way back when,
when there was a sixpence in the pudding,we relive those memories again,
An AT AT,Falcon and Star Wars on TV,
Christmas carols and a fake Christmas tree,
with baubles and tinsel and paper chains on the ceiling,
do you remember the old days …oh what a feeling,
when things were simpler and not so full on,
when we all came together as one,
so at this time, celebrate and have a great time,
As the drinks are flowing and the Christmas bells chime,
but remember those less fortunate, and those in need,
with worry and stress and a family to feed,
the smallest gift, gesture or kind word,
will resonate and will be heard,
by those who are weary and those stressed,
and those who are genuinely worried and distressed,
if You know someone elderly alone or in need,
Just do something simple, do a good deed,
nothing outrageous it doesn't need to cost,
a smile, "how are you?" There's nothing lost,
we are wrapped up in buying presents galore,
but remember what this season is actually for,
the smallest gesture, the tiniest thing,
always joy and good feeling will bring,
so enjoy the season of good will,
Be merry and enjoy and your dreams fulfil,
if we all do something simple, within our means,
we may just rekindle someone's hopes and dreams,
if we all make a difference no matter how small,
just think of the difference it can make to all,
Happy Christmas to one and all,
let's make a difference no matter how small!
