Premier League 24/25 Thread

Been pretty much done and dusted for a while now. Nice to get it won.

Predictions for the CL spots? Top two are a given, and you gotta fancy City. The rest all have winnable/losable games.

Ange will surely get sacked. (Don't call me Shirley)

City
Forest
Newcastle for the other 3 UCL spots.

FA Cup - Man City
UCL - Barcelona
Europa League - Club Athletic

Man Utd still have to play Villa and Chelsea and will probably lose to both, but Chelsea and Villa could both miss out on a UCL spot and Man Utd could qualify by winning the Europa league!! If Utd do qualify for the UCL they will do so with finishing outside the top 7 two seasons in a row.

Does Ange keep his job if you win the EL @edd_jedi?
Thank the maker this season is over 😩 the worst I can remember. I'm still dumbfounded how we went from being top of the league in match week 10 last season:

To where we are now. The turning point was that ridiculous match against Chelsea when we had four key players either injured or suspended, and never looked the same since.

I don't think there's one simple reason, it's been a perfect storm of injuries, too much game time, form, confidence, and Son coming to the end of his career (oh and not to mention Harry Kane leaving.)

While I've been less than impressed with the results and seeming lack of a plan B, I agree with Ange that any manager would have been ****ed with the season we've had, I don't think we've been able to play the preferred starting XI once, even with a half decent bench.

I have zero confidence we'll win the EL and quite frankly we don't deserve it, but either way personally I would give Ange another season if he can get everyone fit and, more importantly, some form and confidence back. This is practically the same squad as the screenshot above, we have scored plenty of goals, and while I don't think Spurs are challenging for the title they are punching well below their weight at the moment, surely.

Saying that, I think it's fair to say this has been a fairly diabolical season all round (except for the neutral) 80 points has got to be one of the lowest winning totals in history? Three wins out of six for the team in second, there hasn't been any serious competition for Liverpool. As the saying goes you can only beat what's in front of you, but where were these teams when we got 86 points a few seasons ago 😂 (and yes I know Liverpool came 2nd with 90+ so this is well deserved!)

HT at the Emirates. Could have been two or three down in 25/30 minutes and maybe a player down if Timber didn't get his head out his arse. Last 15/20 should have equalised and I'd say HT was welcomed by PSG, and not wanted by Arsenal.

Second half - could've scored two or three and could've conceded another couple. 0-1 doesn't feel insurmountable in Paris though

I only saw the second half but they blew quite a few decent chances, going there only 1-0 down is definitely not a bad result!

I half watched last night, I missed the first 10-15. It was a fairly standard first leg, PSG could have had a few more, and if Trossard and Martinelli weren't **** so could Arsenal. Ohh and if you're set piece coach didn't have that daft as **** idea of all your players standing 5 yards offside and then running back onside, it may well have been 1-1. I'm sure yer man has a reason for it, but it does look daft. Especially when you end up NOT getting back onside.

It's all to play for but I would make PSG favourites, say 60:40 ish. The pitch out there is huge (12yards longer) and they just tire you out and pick you off. Arsenal have to score so PSG can just sit and wait, then counter when you over commit. They have the pace up front and they look a very switched on side. I know whose position I would rather be in.

I kind of agree with you boys on Ange not being able to keep his job after 19 league defeats this year, BUT if, and it is an "if", he wins the EL that is Spurs first bit of silverware in (is it) 20 years, and it's CL. They have been abysmal this year, but to sack a guy who gets them CL and a trophy seems harsh.

Ohh and it was 97points @edd_jedi and I'm not still pissed about it.
Pool are on track for (assuming they continue to collect points at roughly the rate they have so far) exactly the average points total City have managed over the last four years, so whilst everyone else has been ****, Pool have been (or are on course to be) exactly as good as the average over the last four years.
