Now that's the first sensible thing you've said in ages!

They won't give you a "U" because the bubble is hand glued, the best you'll get is a "Q" my advise would be to have it authenticated by CIB too...

Thanks for sending the package! Looking forward to it.

<insert sarcasm> Because Tom knows more about Uzays than I do  <exit sarcasm>

Nothing against Tom but I think that if someone needed to authenticate an Uzay ,or any other rare bootleg for that matter, my word would hold a little more weight on the subject than CIB.

Sorry that I'm my typical, late sending self with the package, but you'll definitely be happy with the condition. Dead MINT.

Can I smell an android?

Joe did you get your Headman from Derby? No offence but i'd love to see a few more of them turn up :)

Joe any chance of posting a pic of your Uzay carded collection if it aint to much hassle. Also im loving that photo you limelighted already of the Hungarian 10 pack and black Snow trooper. It is stunning.

Thank you

Grant.

**** i didnt realise that they were a ten pack!

Yeah, it's a store display: http://theswca.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=57446 As Joe mentioned, there's only 3 or 4 known. I think it's 3. Derby had one years ago that he took apart and sold as individual pieces. My Scout came from that set and it's the cleanest Hungarian I have ever seen.

It came from Lenny Lee and was a deal brokered thru Tom. I traded my J-Slot Fett to Tom for his covering the cost of The Headman and 4 or 5 other carded Uzays for me from Lenny in the mid/late 90s.

As for there being another(known). I've been told that Lenny and his partner at the time brought 2 of them back from Turkey, but, the 2nd one was sold by Lennys partner in the early 90s and its current location is unknown.
I'm also sure that somewhere in Turkey there are a few tucked away in some nook where the owner likely has no clue what he has value wise.

Eventually another will show up, I'm just glad that I'm not going to be part of the feeding frenzy if it's a public auction....

Cheers

I always love seeing them in that cabinet! Where's the MLC-3?

FWIW I've also heard of a Headman cardback in turkey someplace :)

Heard but haven't seen proof. He claimed that he had and sold that cardback but couldn't produce pics.

Hey Joe

Thanks for posting that pic of the carded Uzays. It is with out a doubt one of the best line ups Iv ever seen from any line.
If you ever hear of a spare carded Death Star Gunner drop me a line as Id like to pick that one up.

Thanks Grant,
I think that its a case of the display case making a decent run look even better when it comes to my Uzay set.

Speaing of amazing runs.... you should get a tall display case for your 12bk proof run and really showcase it the way it deserves to be. Thats a lot of work putting that set together man.

I'll definitely let you know if I hear of another Gunner coming up. I "just" secured a deal to get the backer variant that I needed for my set.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliment on the proof run. It was with out a doubt the most frustrating run i have worked on but probably one of the most rewarding when I finished it. I would love to get a display cabinet for the proofs but until all the kids move out I have no spare room. Once again Kudos to you on that Uzay run.

I agree with Weasel. Truly amazing. I've never really thought about collecting any bootlegs before, but that's a pretty inspirational photo. I shudder to think of the years of hard work tracking items down and cost that would go into building a collection like that. Thanks v. much for the photo.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but how rare are the bulk of those carded figures? I guess the Headman and Blue Stars are pretty much one of a kind, but are they all generally one of only say, three or four known examples? Or are any of them comparatively (for want of a better word) 'easy' to come by?

If you read earlier in the thread Joe says there was another Headman rumored to have been sold. I've heard that story over the years too but never saw any actual confirmation.

As for Bluestars, there are probably over a dozen of them out there. It's far from the hardest to get, just the most infamous... thus the pricetag.

Several of his are 1 of 3 and such. Alt art Chewbacca and Hoth Trooper are the toughest attainable ones with I think 4 of each known. DSD also has low numbers. There's rumored to be one that was destroyed on the way to Argentina but I think that was an insurance scam. There's also one that was on a lesser card that was opened last year for the loose figure. (how many other rarities are killed by impatient collectors?) R5 and R2 are kind of tough too, maybe middle of the road. (Less than 8??) If you're looking for easy ones to pick up then Stormtrooper and Chewbacca are the way to go.

FWIW, there's a UK collector with a near complete set. He's missing Headman but has a loose one with shield and the only other known sword. He's also missing a carded caped ERG, though he has the figure and a cardback. Next to him I know of a US collector missing 2 or 3 from the basic set but he has no variants.

In today's market... $25-30k for a set sans Headman? A Headman alone I've heard of offers over $20k for.
