What would you consider the rarest SW toy?

The 'infamous' Lily Ledy Black Wampa, outside your window like a peeping tom.
Why 'infamous'? Is it a fake?

It's as real as the Yeti :D

In all seriousness the rarest SW toy is doubtless going to be a bootleg I would have thought. For example I have a Mallory branded lightsaber and only two others are known to exist, so population of 3. I suspect Joe Y has some bootleg pieces which are unique, population of one.

Most of the main possibilities have been covered, and my personal opinion is that when it comes to production toys the most likely "rarest" are going to be some of the one-of-a-kind Poch MOCs or maybe the one or two Basa card backs that have been found. Almost everything else production and licensed has at least 2-5 examples or more of each.

If you want to get into preproduction items, there are many items that are one of a kind.

Right, to nip this one in the bud.

The Black Wampa was created as a spoof by our member Dr. Dengar (I think as an april fools joke) and the internet has ran away with it. It even went so far as a couple of guys publishing a book on Mexican toys and including the bloody thing. I've linked to the video in this thread:

Australian and Canadian 3 packs are way up there. But then I would say that... Some of those are one or two of a kind items despite being production pieces. Rarer than carded dt vaders and probably bens for that matter

Hi does anyone no the amount of palitoy 12 backs such as luke leia and bens there are knocking about surely these are pretty rare i tried to find out but seems quite difficult to get any information.

Boxed basa Peru 12inch chewie I think is a one of a kind

Esb box 12 inch chewie is in single figures

It's a tough subject this in all fairness, as for "normal" production pieces from the major supplier (Kenner) one of the rarest pieces has to be the first issue darth vader case with bounty hunter baggies, only seen 3 over the years, there are a great many items where there's just a single "confirmed" example, I have at least 2 baggie which are the only confirmed example, so I think you can class them as a little rarer than Madine, not quite as rare as the black wampa though

Here's one & I know it's genuine as I got it direct from an ex palitoy worker in my first lot -

Those tri Fett baggies must be up there too Frank?

I used to own a 65 back Kenner Snowtrooper and at the time it was considered the only known example. I sold it in 2003 for a hefty tag. I then found another. Several more came out of the woodwork but they are still very hard to find.

Bizarre really but true. Kellerman listed in as not known I his book. Just shows you never know whats out there (or not).

My sealed case of Headmans must be pretty high on the list.

Ha ha! Great photo! Darren has an amazing collection. I do think the TL Madine is still one of the rarer toys out there and also agree that the VCJ and Yak Face are absolutely not rare. At all.

However, I think the truly rare pieces are some of the POCH cards where only one of many figures are known to exist and indeed some Palitoy and probably Meccano cards where only one of a particular MOC are known to exist. Look at the fun recently over Palitoy 30 backs where someone claimed to have sold a few (and unhelpfully didn't take photos) first 12 characters. In that case the items are rumoured to exist but there's no evidence for it. I guess that makes them rarer than the confirmed one-offs?

I don't know what the rarest is but I probably wouldn't consider 90% of what hits the open market on here, Ebay, FB etc to be rare as you tend to see multiples of the same items over a few days/weeks/months. Definitely not VC Jawas and Yaks though

Yaks and VCJ's are not rare but amongst the most sought after.

I agree with you all about Yak (even on a POTF card; there's plenty out there in collections and they still come up for sale, albeit with high price tags), and also the VCJ on a Kenner card, which is highly sought after, but not that rare. However, it's only fair to distinguish between the Kenner VCJ and the Palitoy (and for that matter also Meccano) carded VCJ which is genuinely hard to find and bloody expensive. There are other figures out there with fewer known examples, but the Palitoy VCJ is still extremely rare.

If you wanted a one of a kind item there were several sold when Agustin did the pbp sale. One of our members here has the only known poch 31 back chewbacca for example. He also had for sale the only known moc pbp toxic green limbs bossk on a 39/41 poch. Now that was something very unique. I think some of the Luke farm boys were one of one known.
