You are absolutely right there are good honest sellers in Spain but this guy is not giving his fellow countrymen a good name. And the situation is worsened by all his friends backing him up. I think JC over on TIG was one of the few Spanish guys to bring some sense to that PBP/POCH thread.
I notice the Luke is no longer for sale - I really hope no one was stupid enough to buy that.
aussiejames said:The key question(s) is what determines a POCH figure, white hands? shitty paint? melt marks? all three??
If someone is willing to sell a figure for $1000 and describe it as a super rare variant & NOT willing to discuss the background behind it other than it's a childhood figure or just trust me I know what I'm talking about....
Stuff that
Well said James.
Its not just giving PBP/POCH variants a bad name. Its giving variant collecting as a whole a bad name.

Some moc could solve many of the questions with poch, but there is maybe not that many of them and I think they are very expensive :?
Well thats the problem Lars. Even if the figure is found on a Spanish POCH card. That doesnt mean anything if it was made in Asia and looks the same as figures released in the US on Kenner cards.
For example. Look at the so called POCH melt mark on the head. That mark is found on ALL Orange and dark brown hair Luke farmboys found on US Kenner cards. So why is it relevant to POCH? In fact I think it proves it is not POCH.
People need to stop using the term POCH marks. Its a factory error that can be found on all figures worldwide that are badly made. Its not a distinguishing characteristic to identlfy a variant!
Joe said:I remember the days when a Luke was just a Luke, a Chewbacca was just a Chewbacca lol
Oli as for that Fett - I don't know if there is any distinguishing characteristics that make it a PBP (there may not be any) but if it's still carded on a PBP cardback then technically it can and should be called PBP - referring to the packaging not the loose figure of course.
Pomse2001 said:Hi Oli, this POCH is so confusing, I am happy that I have not bought figures to $1000 a piece if they are not POCH. I also think it is more confusing a figure on a POCH card is not a POCH figure :?
So how do we ID them and spot them ?
Jedi_june said:I just received a dark brown hair luke in the mail today and copped it for like $45USD. It has that same melt mark or what ever you want to call it on his head. The coo is #1 on wolfs guide.

Simple, a variant should be determined by distinguishing details such as sculpt, mould details, COO, paint application details and colours that are exclusive usually to where it originated from. Not factory errors and poor quality control standards which can be found all over the world allbeit to a lesser degree.
Unlike Lili Ledy, Glasslite and Top Toys, ALL (or certainly most) POCH figures share the same sculpt, mould details and COO as regular Kenner figures. Why? Because they were made in Asia using the same moulds. So the ONLY way to distinguish a POCH is paint application details and colour. When a figure exhibits no real and significant differences in paint application detail and colour it cannot be called a POCH.
So a Bossk with bright green limbs or lando with black neck or a Han with very dark brown legs is fair to call a POCH. A Boba Fett with some dodgy paint and mark on its arse is not a POCH. Its just a badly made figure and if anyone wants to pay $1,000 for a badly made figure then they need helplol

it's a common flaw with dark brown haired lukes, bad paintwork and wobbly heads. I picked my up for £7 GBP on ebay, if people are willing to pay £695 for them i may relist it![]()

Are the figs legit? Just not what they say their are? Can't support these dude if they are trying to scam people.

No worries buddy. Well here's a tip. If you look at the picture and the description and there is no explanation of why it is being called a POCH (otherthan a melt mark or sloppy paint) then it's not a POCH.
So no they are not legit. IMO most of the stuff they are selling is crap. Beaten up figures with a factory melt mark or sloppy paint. Slap a stupid price tag on it and call it POCH.
Like any hard to identify variant you need to do your research first and know what to look out for. Wolff's guide is pretty much the definitive guide as far as POCH goes http://swspaceclub.com/wbobafett/poch/ and Kenneth pretty much has the most complete set of legit POCHs http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t5068-my-poch-collection . I'm not saying there arent definitely other POCHs out there but so far Sergio, Ricardo and their buddies haven't been able to justify their outlandish claims without the mention of sloppy paint, melt marks blah blah bullshit
If you are looking for reliable sellers of PBP and POCH figures then Kenneth and Lee are trusted sellers selling reliable stuff at realistic prices IMO.
Personally I'm out of collecting variants now as I just think its getting a little ridiculous with all the factory errors and discoloured figures flying about for silly money.![]()
Jedi_june said:Thanks oli for the info.
And @Pomse2001: "Quoting Wolf" - It's important for me to stress that not every figure with dents, melt-marks, "dripped" paint or faded/discolored hands is assumed to be a POCH variant.![]()
