Original Spanish company behind vintage Star Wars figures. Later mixed with 2 other Spanish companies to make a company called PBP that continued to make Star Wars figures.

POCH = expensive

Spanish licensed company that made star wars figures, like glasslite for brazil and lili ledy for Mexico.

Some figures are quiet rare and demand several hundreds if pounds loose!

As with lili ledy there are some unique paint ops....

The answer to your question depends largely where you are from in the world If you are Spanish then it seems to be any figure from a childhood collection in Spain or any beater figure that exhibits factory errors, bad paint application and general poor quality control with a high price tag slapped on it and sold to some unsuspecting mug in Europe or US. :lol:

For anyone else POCH is the company in Spain that sold Star Wars figures in roughly the ESB era before it merged with 2 other companies in the ROTJ era to be called PBP or Poch Borras Palouzie. I use the word "sold" rather than "produced since it isnt certain that POCH produced any figures of their own at all. All POCH figures share the same moulds as US Kenner figures so it is likely they were all made in Hong Kong and shipped to Spain for packaging or otherwise shipped to spain where they were painted and then packaged. It is thought that POCH didnt have there own moulds at this point. It is also worth mentioning that not every figure packaged on a POCH card is a POCH figure. Alot of them are just standard Kenner figures so off the card they are no longer POCH figures. It is a theory that figures that failed their quality controls in Hong Kong were sent to Spain to be sold. Since a POCH figure shares the same mould as a Kenner figure it should be identified as a POCH variant by different paint application details and colour. Although many POCHs have melt marks, bubbles in the plastic or sloppy paint jobs this does not identify a POCH figure on its own as these traits can be found on all US Kenner figures allbeit to a lesser extent. All or most confirmed POCH figures have the "Made in Hong Kong" COO markings.

Around the time of the completion of the merger to PBP (ROTJ era) they obtained their own moulds either from Asia or Lili Ledy in Mexico and scarred out the COO and copyright details. Figures therefore can be identified not only by unique paint application colour and detail but also by mould and COO markings, different accessories and the type of plastic the figure is made of. Generally a much harder plastic with a notable "toxic" type smell. Once again most figures packaged on PBP cards are not exclusive to PBP and can be found throughout Europe on Palitoy, Mecanno, Tri Logo cards etc. True PBP figures exclusive to PBP are very rare.

There are a lot of blurring of these statements because the exact date of the start and completion of the merger is unknown and it appears to be a gradual change in process, manufacturing method, introduction of new moulds and some hybrid figures made from mixed PBP, POCH, Kenner figure parts.

Lando black neck (POCH)

Some notable PBP figures exclusive to PBP are:

4-Lom Red tinted chest armour (PBP)
Cloud car Pilot hard torso and white face (PBP)
Luke Hoth hard torso and white face (PBP)
Luke X-Wing hard torso and white face/hands (PBP)
Biker Scout - hard torso and different mould detail (PBP)
Rebel Soldier dark Brown with white face (PBP)
Rebel Commander black boots (PBP)
TIE Pilot with AT-AT emblems (PBP)

Some notable "PBP" figures not exclusive to PBP are:

Luke X-Wing hard torso and pink face/hands (PBP/Tri Logo)
Rebel Soldier dark Brown with pink face (PBP/Tri Logo)
Bossk hard torso and big lips (PBP/Palitoy)
Luke Farmboy hard torso (PBP/Palitoy)

I've read conflicting stories from Spanish collectors: they say that Poch figures weren't imported unpainted and that Poch were the only company to ever make figures in Spain. When the companies merged Poch was still the manufacturer, but changed the production to what we call PBP figures.

Why do some Poch figures have Hong Kong limbs? :?

It is all confusing; we may never know for sure.
