Vintage Collection for sale

Hello gents, please relax and take a breather.
I sent the gentleman a message yesterday afternoon as soon as I read his post. I explained that I live near him and would be keen to take a look. I also saw that Iain had already commented so immediately contacted Iain to inform him. I even suggested to Iain that we could work together on this. Iain (as a friend of over 5 years agreed).
I was prepared to wait in line but the seller initially chose me because I live so close. He's entitled to do that. They are his childhood toys. This might, and I stress might go ok or it might be that the seller wants more than we believe they are worth.

There are no Yak Faces or VCJs. All last 17 are Tri Logo and have sticker damage from where the large yellow stickers have tried to be removed. The Jawas are ROTJ as is the General Madine.
It's easier for the seller to sell in bulk and naturally he is trying to get a good deal. He has also informed me that his brother who co owns them also has a potential deal lined up.

So no back doors, no issues, no snags and all is cool. Hopefully this nice collection will end up within our forum community but it might not. Iain is fully aware of the situation. All is good.

sorry Jez I'm afraid I disagree, I have seen many threads on here when people do not put prices up and they get shot down, but when a senior/long serving member like yourself is interested in something the rules go out the window, sorry but that's just the way I see it.

I agree that the seller not putting up prices is against the rules.
I just wanted to explain the current state of play.
I have never been one of the "oh that's against the rules" posters. I don't have the time.

Guys would it work if there was a for sale tread for bulk sales with no rules. No matter what we all say the rules are stated clearly for all members. I really like this forum everyone gets on well. At the end of the day we're collecting we don't need arguments over all this.

There are 2 issues here;
1, the seller didn't abide by the rules. That's not new. They rarely do and we just have to live with that. We can get upset or we can just roll our eyes and offer advice.
2, people thought there was a back door deal going on. Hopefully I've explained to all that this isn't the case.

I know I'm new here, and at the risk of sticking my head above the parapet, but I totally agree with Lindo. The thing that most impressed me about this forum is how all members were expected to conduct themselves on the forum. If I'm not mistaken, the original seller made contact with the forum, not individuals on it. Whichever way you look at it, the forum rules were disregarded in this case.

I know I've moaned at least as much as the next man but I think we should accept these are gone or going wherever to the highest bidder, give up on the pissing contest and go and buy some of the MOC that have been passing us by on the other FS threads

The rules seem to get a bit fudged when there are large collections involved as there are only a few people who would have the collateral to buy and process a large collection. I can't think of anyone who would buy a lot this size and keep all of it, and I am certain anyone who buys it would expect a bulk discount and be looking to piece it out and put a little extra on top of each item. There is only one person on the forum I can think of who wouldn't. It's the way things go on these deals. Buy the lot, take what you want, pass on what you don't and get a little something for the effort.

I must admit I agree that this whole thread is not a glowing endorsement as to how a sale thread should go. It's not that people are being sticklers for the rules Jez, it's just it looks to perhaps newer members like behind doors deals are going on. A price needs to be given by the seller for transparency, that way anyone who is interested could have a chance to contact the seller. Wether they want to go with the nearest person or first person is up to them.

To the guys who have said, I would have liked this or that, the seller had no intention of selling an individual item from this. They have been quite clear from the start that they want it sold in one lot, and picked up in person. You were never going to be able to buy an individual item. It is an all or nothing deal.

Also, please remember that if Iain or Jamie were up to no good they would have just contacted the guy directly. They had no need to have posted in the thread like they did. I promise you they weren't the only two messages the seller would have received.

If only the seller would have posted a picture and a price, no one would have batted an eyelid.

Playing Devils Advocate here, but i think the issue is that some people may feel a grievance about not getting any opportunities to make an offer on the items?

Also, it my be perceived that longer standing, established buyers/sellers don't have to abide by the rules when a juicy bulk lot gets offered/advertised with no pricing.

For what it's worth i haven't mentioned money yet to the seller, and by that i haven't offered him anything else either

Right from what i can see the seller hasnt created a fair sales thread here and he has been contacted about his sales.

Im advising that the seller starts a new thread with a list of whats for sale and a price please, i cant stop people from PM'ing and offering to visist ect, but the guys on here are are good lads so lets help the seller and get a lst up so everyone can have a look/chance to add to their collection

thread locked and seller PM'd

Guys, I'm seeing lots of threads and arguments about rules the last couple of days. One thing I like and many others like about this forum is that we try to have as few rules as possible. As far as I can see the only rule that was broken was the lack of listing prices, however as the poster is a newbie this is probably an honest mistake and he should really have posted in the Valuation section first.

I don't want this site to become like the Facebook groups with thousands of pointless rules, so let's all try not to fall out over sales threads please.
