I put a few really good bids on in the Palitoy employee auction and simply got blown out of the water but accepted it, we aren't living in the mid nineties anymore and picking up a bargain at a car boot sale just won't happen, I think that this is the problem with a lot of members on this forum, living in yesteryear and realising what prices they could have picked up desirable items for back in the day, those days have simply gone and collectors nowadays need to pay premium prices to own top pieces - its a fact.
Jimmy, with all due respect most of the people here who "complain" are actually comparing the prices right now to 2013..2012..2011 etc - I haven't seen anyone reference the mid 90's?
I'm a bit puzzled by your post, do you really think this "complaining" that older collectors do really boils down to their personal regrets at not buying things up when they were cheaper? I think that's totally wrong and actually comments like those completely disregard the experience and opinions of some of the biggest Palitoy collectors in the world (and in some cases experts) that the forum is home to.
Just because prices haven't gone down yet doesn't mean they won't..& just because you might have joined the hobby at a time when prices are at an all time high doesn't mean it's the "norm"..
This IS the post Disney acquisition announcement & pre Force Awakens period..unprecedented amounts are being spent on Vintage right now but who knows how long it will last? Who knows how many of the people that are new to the hobby will still be here in 2, 3 or 5 years time? Will they all make money on their "investments"? Personally I doubt it, but I could be wrong- the thing is, nobody knows for sure.
I think people are entitled to voice their opinions on prices, especially those that have a lot of knowledge and experience in the hobby, perhaps if more people listened to them it would make an impact on prices for everyone. I think the Vectis auctions have proven that there are very few production toys that are TRULY rare and I would go as far as saying that I've never seen as much Vintage out there as I have in the last few years..so there is plenty out there for everyone.

All the best to whoever is bidding next week but please spare the moaning if the prices rocket, which they probably will!!!
They might, they might not.
I still think a lot of people lately don't understand the hobby as well as the older collectors do and that's not meant as a knock, I just don't think people coming in these days can fully appreciate what's rare or not based on a year or so of being a collector.
A good example: Once the Vectis link was posted here I took the Trilogo totals over to my FB group and basically said look guys, there's multiples of most figures coming up so don't go mad with your bids but good luck if you do take part. One of the members who won a figure earlier this year from Vectis saw the list I posted and got a bit annoyed as he hadn't realised that Vectis had another 2 or 3 of the same figure coming up. It seems he had placed a rather large bid on the one he won (possibly thinking he wouldn't get another chance at one any time soon)..so it's quite possible that other people also bid without fully understanding the rarity of the items they are bidding on and/or might not even be aware that Vectis themselves will be offering up similar items in the future.
