There are so many things on this auction i want.
Does anyone know what happens if you win an item, pick it up (or ask Rich to) and discover a crack in the bubble. Can you refuse it? What happens then?
Def gonna be placing a few bids :)

with any auction, you are best off being there, handling the piece and making your bid. If you can't do that, contact Vectis and ask them. I believe some items like the glasslite xwing were sold but refused when the bidder found information that they didnt previously know. eg, the picture showed there was a flap in the internal packaging was missing, despite the image clearly showing it wasnt there it was refused. Knowledge is power etc etc.

I put a few really good bids on in the Palitoy employee auction and simply got blown out of the water but accepted it, we aren't living in the mid nineties anymore and picking up a bargain at a car boot sale just won't happen, I think that this is the problem with a lot of members on this forum, living in yesteryear and realising what prices they could have picked up desirable items for back in the day, those days have simply gone and collectors nowadays need to pay premium prices to own top pieces - its a fact.

Jimmy, with all due respect most of the people here who "complain" are actually comparing the prices right now to 2013..2012..2011 etc - I haven't seen anyone reference the mid 90's?

I'm a bit puzzled by your post, do you really think this "complaining" that older collectors do really boils down to their personal regrets at not buying things up when they were cheaper? I think that's totally wrong and actually comments like those completely disregard the experience and opinions of some of the biggest Palitoy collectors in the world (and in some cases experts) that the forum is home to.

Just because prices haven't gone down yet doesn't mean they won't..& just because you might have joined the hobby at a time when prices are at an all time high doesn't mean it's the "norm"..

This IS the post Disney acquisition announcement & pre Force Awakens period..unprecedented amounts are being spent on Vintage right now but who knows how long it will last? Who knows how many of the people that are new to the hobby will still be here in 2, 3 or 5 years time? Will they all make money on their "investments"? Personally I doubt it, but I could be wrong- the thing is, nobody knows for sure.

I think people are entitled to voice their opinions on prices, especially those that have a lot of knowledge and experience in the hobby, perhaps if more people listened to them it would make an impact on prices for everyone. I think the Vectis auctions have proven that there are very few production toys that are TRULY rare and I would go as far as saying that I've never seen as much Vintage out there as I have in the last few years..so there is plenty out there for everyone.

All the best to whoever is bidding next week but please spare the moaning if the prices rocket, which they probably will!!!

They might, they might not.

I still think a lot of people lately don't understand the hobby as well as the older collectors do and that's not meant as a knock, I just don't think people coming in these days can fully appreciate what's rare or not based on a year or so of being a collector.

A good example: Once the Vectis link was posted here I took the Trilogo totals over to my FB group and basically said look guys, there's multiples of most figures coming up so don't go mad with your bids but good luck if you do take part. One of the members who won a figure earlier this year from Vectis saw the list I posted and got a bit annoyed as he hadn't realised that Vectis had another 2 or 3 of the same figure coming up. It seems he had placed a rather large bid on the one he won (possibly thinking he wouldn't get another chance at one any time soon)..so it's quite possible that other people also bid without fully understanding the rarity of the items they are bidding on and/or might not even be aware that Vectis themselves will be offering up similar items in the future.

This has probably been said before, but please get additional photos from Vectis if you are serious about bidding.
I'm glad I did!

I completely agree. GET EXTRA PHOTOS people!!

Glad I did too or it would have been a potentially quite costly mistake!

I bet they still make silly money!

Indeed was waiting for the ROTJ cards myself and they started off well and then descended into BIN EBay prices! :?

Oh well till the next one!...

I have been watching all afternoon. There are some stupid prices, esp on the trilogo stuff. The yodas were maybe ok at best but the rest of it was ridiculous.

Who buys this stuff at these prices?

Bugger! I'd hoped to pick up at least one of those point of sale items, especially the ESB soundtrack display> I went quite high on these but everything went out of my budget. Oh well, another day.

Sand people 580

Stormy 800
R2 750
Hammerhead 580
Snaggle 440

Seems reasonable!

Compared to the last auction certainly these items have dropped back a peg but it's still a lot of fish. I really fancied the Stormy (which I think went for 950 last time out) but having asked for additional pictures from Vectis found out that it's right hand and leg were turning yellow. Hard to know if others found out it was discolouring and this lowered the amount they were willing to commit or whether the people with the deep pockets filled their boots last time out.

I eventually won a few things today

A falcon , darth vader tie fighter with box , ESB imperial tie fighter with box , scout walker with box , rebel transporter with box and a b wing fighter all for £170 plus fees

Boxes aren't great but not bad on the overall prices

The Luke had some brown staining on it too (on the photo on the card), which stopped me going any higher. I'm not sure if people just weren't bothered or didn't notice/ask.

I think a Pruneface with a split and crsuhed bubble went for £80, who pays that price for a common as poor condition Trilogo.

I ended up with the micro tins, and badges display plus a lightsaber! I thought the palitoy 12s and 20s all went at relatively stable prices compared to last time. Greedo 3K last time £750 this time! Just shows how all over the place palitoy prices are.

From what I saw the 12 backs went for around the same as last time, some a bit less, the 20's went for less (afew weren't quite as good quality as last time though), the 30's went up, many of the Tri's went up or stayed the same, and the ROTJ grouped stuff seemed about the same.

It feels abit like the saturation point has come doesn't it? People are finishing of 12 back runs (with a bit of cherry picking maybe), and have had their fill of 20's now, some are moving on to the 30's. I still don't see much dealer profit, although if things continue to grade at around the AFA85 level perhaps some money could still be made.

There's an Action Man sale next, so perhaps the rep stuff is coming to an end (4 Death Stars left!!). Be interesting to know if Vectis has more Palitoy stuff ready to go with, we've been a bit spoiled recently, perhaps it's time for a breather.

Beeches still has a ton to go though by the sound of things.
