Any VHS / Pre-cert Experts?

I found a couple of posts in the search but they were 5+ years old so thought I'd start a new one. Being a typical collector, getting a VHS recorder has inevietebly sent me down the rabbit hole of looking at VHS tapes to collect

At first I just wanted to get the ones I remembered as a kid, which seem to be the 1988 releases (CBS Fox All Time Greats.) But then I thought it would be cool to get the rental or pre-cert tapes, as I remember renting those as a kid (pretty sure Cocoon was one of the adverts.)

I've been using this website to look through all the different versions: https://www.swonvideo.com/

But it doesn't list this one, apparently a "third release" of the Star Wars rental:

Anyone know anything about this version? It looks legit enough from the photos, but I can't find another copy that looks like this.

I found it on this website, so seems to be a known 1985 variation and apparently rarer than either of the first two releases

edd_jedi I've found myself in a similar position as you. Ended up collecting (again) the first rental editions of the trilogy.

In doing so I discovered this 'variant' issued in a white box.

Indeed, you find yourself disappearing down a rabbit hole with such things.

I'm resisting getting any more versions for the sake of my mental health .

Thanks, very helpful and enjoyed reading it! As far as I can tell from what I've read, the "white box" third version has an identical inlay to the second release, including "Hans Solo" spelling mistake on the back, however the tape has 1985 printed on it (the details are printed on the tape rather than a sticker like the earlier versions) so it seems to definitely be a later release. There is no other 1985 retail release of the first film, so it doesn't appear to be a case of just the wrong tape in an earlier box, which is what I originally thought when I couldn't find any other examples, but now there are at least three sources of information on it.
