Id tip my hat to the old Palitoy guy, he held on to these even past the PT release and hype
The only downside to this is that all those mint pieces will be going for grading at either UKG ir AFA and entombed forever, its bound to happen. Then, they will be sold off for silly money.
One last thing though, and ive said this before-Vectis are the most unprofessional, clatty looking auctioneers i have ever seen. Those figures/items should be cased properly and put behind glass displays. We are talking about thousands of pounds worth, not some batch of lawnmower engines. Giving a figure a yellowed, £1 star case doesnt show how much of a nice piece it is,does it?? And they charge 15% fees??? Absoultely pathetic, and a shame that they are now touted as 'THE' top uk auction house for collectables?? Absolute bollox. They need to sort it out.
In fairness all auction houses struggle to handle top quality goods, Vectis are one of the better ones, I've had terrible experiences with others. I've seen behind the scenes and I personally think it's run as well as possible. Sure it's not perfect but the sheer volume they have to deal with is incredible so the odd problem does occur. They at least do give free star cases now for protection, which I think is a positive step as they never used to use them at all. They also acknowledge their own mistakes and will refund or cancel auctions where necessary.
At the end of the day despite any misgivings we may have if you want to sell your collection now in bulk, Vectis will get you higher prices than any other auction house. I don't think anyone will dispute that.
