Vectis 25-6-2015

When I was up at Vectis I overheard them saying his name so yes it will be him. He'll have rich clients in the States. I assume he bought up both Action Man and Star Wars. I sent him a tweet to see if he had bought any but he was non committal saying he already had a set of 12 back Palitoys.

There is a guy, zach, on facebook that has bought a lot 30 backs at vectis, graded at afa and now at auction on ebay. This is the sedond batch in just some weeks! He is now selling his second Luke Bespin 30 back from vectis. Damn, I hate these dealers whi buy high at auction to resell on ebay. If you find in the wild, cheap, great, sell it at auction or forum, but this practise by zach and jordan pushes the market in a bad direction!

Totally agree.

Let's watch these auctions closely. He only got the Han Hoth cheap because there was a glitch in the auction at the time:

Han Hoth £768 inc.commission Lets add on say £30 for Postage and insurance, then say £50 for AFA. Call it £850. He'd have to clear £1000 through ebay before he starts to make a profit.

Luke Bespin £1240 inc comm + £30 + £50 = £1320. He'd have to clear say £1,500.

Leia Bespin £1364 +£30+ £50 =£1444. He'd have to clear around £1630.

I'd be surpised if he makes a profit on them but we'll see.

At those prices he's going to struggle to make a profit which is great as he'll hopefully stay away next time. Flipping Vectis stuff is always going to be an uphill task, it's not exactly the bargain bucket is it?

And what's that about $100 postage. Is he hand delivering them?

Very interesting Hollywood Heroes are involved. No wonder we're seeing some ridiculous prices like the Greedo and Leia.

Jordan Hembrough, Toyhunter man from TV.

He's Hollywood Heroes isnt he?

Yes he is unless that's what Spoons meant to say, man I hope the **** not!

Vectis said that Hollywood studios were buying up the stock, clearly they must have meant Hollywood Heroes, cant believe I didn't twig

That is a real shame, I'd assumed they were off to 20th century fox archives rather than to be resold for even higher prices

Ok, I have been out of loop for a while so who or what is vectis?

an auction house near Middlesborough that have been selling off some ex-salesman stuff and old shop stock

no problem - the issue is they've been selling for beyond premium in the first place. £870 with commission for a Palitoy die cast Darth Vader TIE

Who knows what mark up will be added to that

I think that was one of the biggest surprises of the whole auction, did anybody see that coming?

Jamie - none of the warehouse stock is being sold privately, only auctioned in public

as to the DV TIE they don't come up often but the last one I saw on ebay sold for £100 (C6ish)

Off the back of Vectis I've just paid £200 for a C7 one which is a bout £50 more than I think its worth - maybe £300-£400 tops for a C9 one?

I may be wrong, but I think Vaders Tie Fighter is the rarest Palitoy die cast, several people obviously wanted it to complete a set. I was more surprised at the Imperial Cruiser, arguably the most common die cast ship yet sold for £600 (800+ with commission).

As for the 'Toy hunter' who knows why he's buying stuff from Vectis. It's not his usual style, buying items at these prices, can't see much profit for him. Stick to ripping off old ladies in America please Jordan.

I know who got the DV Tie fighter and it was a UK collector who needed it to complete the run. I don't think one had been around for a while and as it turned out it was the only one available from the rep. It was overpriced, but that last piece to complete a run more often than not is.
