Today on Facebook...

A big bid is a legit strategy. It gets rid of people with little willpower. If you are taking someone up at a pound a time it's "only" another pound each bid and you will far likely have someone hanging on to your coat tails, bidding over their max. Smash it up and it will deter that kind of bidder.

That was a Thall Joben MOC. Seeing as the blaster sells for $US100+ , $A101 wsa really just a placeholding bid. Only sold for $A140!

Not Star wars related but kept me amused for over an hour today. 400 'comments' arguing about the definition of a double or nothing bid. Guy wins a $20 bet, mate says double or nothing. His mate wins and was expecting $40.......

They've been arguing over a Chance comment about Carrie Fisher for 24hrs. The spat was fine. Someone left over it. But now they're circling like a pack of vultures with gif after gif. And they wonder why FB gets a bad rap.

**** facebook it's an utter joke, someone posted on Echo earlier today asking where the best place to buy figures online is, every single moron was posting like sheep saying "100% this group", "here and nowhere else", "Echo no.1" and all that ****. So I posted an honest opinion and said ebay is the best place for bargains, 3 mins later an admin deleted my comment ( my opinion ) and had a PM asking me why I thought that was a good idea to post that comment "on a feel good thread". After some back and forth and disagreeing with each other I left the group.

Apparently i'm not allowed to 'promote' ebay just in case some snowflakes might buy a repro off of 'evilbay' and will be put off collecting forever, I told the admin I think adults are pretty smart enough to make their own decisions and they should be learning the difference between real & fake which comes with experience, instead of being protected in a little bubble, and if someone buys repro their ebay purchase is fully protected anyway.

I got told by the admin that "I must love to see collectors waste money on repros", and that I "have a very sad way of thinking"

Facebook is full of ****ing morons.

May as well talk to a brick wall... the more people that don't use eBay, the better for us. With FB falsely driving up prices, eBay has (mostly) become the haven for bargains again.. long may it continue.

As I think I've said before I've bought stuff off the FB groups and been sold Repro (either knowingly or unknowingly).

Exactly, everyone on these groups and the admins all seem to think they're in the mecca of collecting where it's all completely safe, and their group is the no.1 place and ebay everything else is evil and riddled with scammers, there are scammers everywhere and this was exactly my point to this admin I said it cannot be avoided and to blanket ban just mentioning about ebay to it's members is ridiculous and very short sighted.

That's very true  at least something good has come of all this facebook shite, albeit probably a short lived good thing, lets just hope that part lasts for a long time. :)

Haha it lasted me about 5 weeks I think  .. saw a few posts, saw some ridiculous prices dotted about here & there, bought one loose figure, and had an argument with an admin and that's my adventure over.

Yep totally true, I was only on there several weeks out of interest to see what it was all about and came to that same conclusion.

As Ive said before there are good and bad groups on FB. If you have a focus there are many great groups whos only rules are mutual respect and dont be a dick. Social media brings out the worst in human nature IMO. Sorry to hear of your experience Subzero FWIW you were dead right to say what you said and do what you did. Needless to say i'M NOT a member on Echo and NEVER will be!!!

Thanks, it hasn't bothered me really as I had no love for that group whatsoever, I only joined literally just to see if it really was as bad as people said it was... it was.

If anything I felt bemused to how someone can act that way, as I was the one being judged just for saying the forbidden word 'ebay'.. if an admin doesn't agree with mentioning a simple little thing then they should just reply to it and give their opinion on it like a grown adult should, instead of censoring it just because they want to be no.1 and don't want their members going outside of the group. I never see admin or anyone else on here deleting my comment just because I mention ebay or any other site, it's constructive to actually disagree on some things and actually talk about it.

When he replied back to each message he just kept repeating the point that they aren't forcing people to trade on Echo, and completely avoiding the points I was making, it really was a brick wall with the IQ of 10.

The sad part is the admin probably believes all the **** that comes out of his mouth too.

Gotta be honest I can't remember the name lol, I deleted the message thread and blocked him after I left the group, if I heard the full name i'll prob remember it though.

Definitely not Wayne or Dean though, could be Paul i'm not sure.

Or if I seen the face ( profile pic ) i'd remember it.
