Today on Facebook...

Only one reasonable recourse I would suggest Jimi.

Copy their hats.

After months of us (the admin of Jabba's Palace auction group) getting grief from the Echo admin over auctions driving up prices and admin directly blaming us for the recent price hikes, what do the almighty Echo Base do when they loose control of their group and can't deal with all the issue regarding pricing?
They start their own auction group! Possibly the most hypocritical thing I've ever seen

Brilliant, judging by the last page of this thread they're already in the middle of a massive shitstorm. What a great time to launch. Judging by what was selling on Echo before I left I can't wait to see the endless parade of beaters selling at echo prices in auction form.

I think the fees that ebay charge are not too outrageous considering the protection they give a buyer and the fact that auction houses charge 30 odd %, I personally would feel safer buying from ebay than I would on facebook. The cant see any protection if you buy from facebook, the only protection you would get is if you paid paypal goods, same as here though I spose but it feels a lot closer knit on here than it does on there.

This is their reaction to said shitstorm. Over the last few weeks they have had more rule changes than in the last year. All because the monster they have created has broken free from its reigns and the master is no longer in control.
I hope they are satisfied that not only have they ruined friendships and the general goodwill towards all in the community but now they are trying to ruin vintage SW collecting in the uk in totality.

I have only ever done one deal on Facebook back in 2015 which put me off from ever doing a deal on Facebook again.
It was for an Ugnaught AFA 85 ESB debut MOC for £200. The guy must have thought I did a gift payment as he requested me to do, but I thought I'd send £208 to cover the fees and cover my arse... and it was a bloody good job I did too. 9 days later, nothing arrived! I opened a PayPal case, and an hour later the seller messaged me with the weakest of excuses, 'I thought I had posted it.'

This is for sale at £1100 - AFA85 and looks lovely.....can you sense the but yet?

Yeah I saw that, I could make a nice profit buying Toy Toni's loose figures and selling them on Facebook!

Is it just me or is this variant nonsense getting out of hand? There will be 5,000 different versions of every figure if people continue kidding themselves that every tiny difference in paint, mould, COO etc is a legitimate, deliberate variant.

looks the same to me

I mean surely no two figures are exactly the same right? So does that make every figure a variant?

I get the slight COO differences because at least the mood must've been slightly different but unless you can show me paint applications, colours and whatever else on MOCs they are not variants, they have faded or degraded. They're nearly forty years old ffs.

This is a bit different. As you know there are three mould families for DSC - all slightly different. But I'll bet if you go through yours very few of you have a family 3 DSC. I think all collectors should go for the one example from each family.
