Today on Facebook...

You may have missed it as most of the thread got deleted, but I got some serious backlash for suggesting the collectors in Echo Base were mainly in to low end collecting. Thankfully, this member was ready to prove me wrong:

Watch out Gus Lopez, this guy has some loose production figures!

I mean it wasn't even meant as a derogatory comment, do people really think I consider myself a high end collector while selling a MOC that looks like somebody has run over it? It's just amazing how clueless and arrogant some people are, Gus Lopez has the actual Death Star in his house, and then these guys on Facebook think they're Steve Sansweet because they've got a Yak Face. Incredible

I wondered what that was al about. Anyone got a screenshot of the original thread.

That guy is new to collecting. I sold him a loose ledy atst driver. He then posts asking what the differences are and sends me this long message about having to sell it because his finances are tight. I don't subscribe to this ask the seller bullshit. Once it's yours you can do what the **** you like with it.

So poor that he had to sell a £20 figure but could afford to go and pay echo prices for 2 vcjs, 2 yaks and a blue snag.

The last thing that I saw on there that could be considered anywhere near top end was Laurence's amanaman first shot, which they seemed to think if anything was to be done with a deal they would expect it all to be in the comments on the picture!

And today that Australian twat blocked me and Dan for suggesting his overstock was expensive.

Looks like rich temple and Ben potter have acquired the sabres and blasters for all his luke jedis. Makes a complete loose luke Jedi about £65 once you have got all the bits.

That's what got my back up, I'm not having somebody tell me my prices are too high on the FB page that is almost single handedly responsible for recent price increases. Like you say, look no further than the Luke Jedi's.

My new years resolution of not arguing with people online is going well

Very dissapointing, we deleted all the crap that got posted on your thread, supported your pricing, deleted peoples reactions to your accidental insult to most people on the group, and we still get hot topic of the day on here.......classy....

You deleted it all because you had to due to your rules, it only happened after I pointed it out to a mod.

You are also missing the point that my comments are about individuals, not your group. Touchy...

Pretty sure thats about the group? No?

Well A, it's true, like it or not. 99% of your members collect loose figures and beaters, that's a fact.

B, I could have worded it better yes but it was not meant as an insult. I don't consider myself a high end collector either.

Nobody suggested you were a high end collector Edd? As 99% of vintage items are loosies is it not a no brainer that they would be the most sold items?
Cant we all just get along? Lol

Bless him. He found a new hobby and he's showing the world he means business...

...and is a penis.

What strikes me as ironic is that here is a dedicated thread to the 'joys' Facebook groups and there we are buying and selling on there too.
I guess it's handy when you want it to be, the you can all run back here and slag it off and mock other enthusiastic, if maybe less knowledgable than the elite here, collectors.
How about helping out rather than sneering down at them?

It's simple really Dan, 10000 members means it's easy to sell stuff.

As for less knowledgable collectors, its like trying to flog a dead horse. You take time to try to educate and all you get is a load of stupid memes, a load of sarcasm and a load of I know best.

You admins take it all so personally. There isn't a great deal of criticism towards any of you here. A group is only as good as the members, and seemingly the new membership are more intent on buying things, anything, then learning about the hobby. As for calling people here 'elite', 95% of the questions that get asked these days could be answered with one google search. It's not being elite, its investing a little time to read a little about the hobby you claim to be so enthusiastic about.

I appreciate it might feel like flogging a dead horse at times and that this stuff might well be easily found - but newer collectors seek out groups thinking that they might just get some of that help from within; that's part of their research maybe.
It's not something I take personally at all, I just find it a little head scratching at times how devisive a common interest can be.

If it happened on here, I would have done exactly the same thing. I wasn't being elitist, if the thread hadn't all been deleted you would see that I made that comment because somebody suggested my trilogo Leia was too expensive because a ROTJ Darth Vader sold for less! So please don't try and make out that I was being arrogant, I was just dishing back to somebody who was giving me grief that had no idea what he was talking about.

If people talk bullshit on here we point it out to them too.
