"Amazing price!"

I gave an X-Wing shell away for free recently. I wish people would realise saying things like "amazing price" on piles of crap or posting desperate wanted ads for common as muck figures is what's driving prices up.

It's a steal at that price !!!

Well what would it cost to ship that within the UK? Not defending him, but with free shipping, is he making much off that hull?
£2.85, so he's getting £9.95 less whatever packaging he buys. He could obviously recycle a box and bubble wrap though.

Doesn't seem so terribly bad to me. I'd buy a used x wing shell for my son to play with for £9.95 plus post. In fact i did a few months back. He loves it.

Better than 20 cigs or 3 pints.

I suppose that the more if them think that eBay insane, the more actual bargains for the rest of us.

Funny thing is that I am usually a little ashamed of how much I paid for some of my stuff. There is NO way I'm going to advertise how 'desperate' I have been to include certain pieces in my collection.

The latest #COTW in one group is asking people to post their non Star Wars collections, and I think it's revealed why prices have gone crazy. On our thread people post war medals, other toy lines, video games etc. This group is full mostly of Ferrari's and Porsche's

To be fair there's been 2 older ferrari and a few 70's / 80's American muscle cars, alongside quite a bit of preproduction stuff from other lines and screen used props etc. But mostly it's been other toy lines, such as space lego, action man, mego, dinky, action force etc and a few 80's BMX, clothing and other general antiquities. The guys with the larger 'other collections' are the same guys who have the high quality SW collections so likely in a well paid job or just made the hobby work very well for them over the years and branched out into other things.

Agree with Dan - most of these guys' car "collections" consist of one car (not sure that is a collection). Only a guy or two had a bunch and high end cars at that. More than a few guys had very modest collections. In any event, not sure this is a dick measuring contest nor should it be. As I said, it's just cool to see something different from folks we all know for a change.

Yep there has been some cool stuff posted and I'm just poking fun really. I know there are a few people on here that have done well for themselves, it's just a more modest environment so you don't see it.

Its a great thread! I've only seen a couple of Ferraris on it, and they are hardly 250 GTOs.

I really like seeing other collections (non-star wars) - I might post a few of my things up. Funny that a collector of SW is often a collector of other things too - we're obviously all just a bit ocd!

My favourite  and it's for sale !!!!

I've loved seeing some of the other collections, the muscle cars especially!

Agree! It's great - we all argue and moan, but I bet the majority of us vintage collectors are all rather alike.

Today on Facebook several people will have mocked eBay for having listings, possibly put up by old ladies with genuine loft finds, for having figures with the wrong capes.

Elsewhere on the very same pages, apparent collectors will be asking what 'Palitoy' means.

I must not be a member of these fb pages  Ferraris?

I'm selling a Fender amp on eBay and some guy asked me what Fender was? :? Bit like asking what Star Wars is
