The last 17 - I just cant do it .........just cant

ESB has the Bespin set of a lovely Leia (despite her tiny feet), stylish Lando, excellent Luke and the best Han by some distance. Plus the bounty hunters. Iggy rocks.

Leia and Lando don't do it for me. Never been a fan of Vinyl capes. Agree with Luke and Han tho. Both great.

Love the Bounty Hunters at a set. They look so cool lined up together but individually, save Fett, non of them are amazing. IG and Dengar best of the bunch. imo

I have a fondness for most of the figures really, even less glamorous ones like 2-1B or Imperial Commander. I find it easier to list those I really don't like much. Yup, definately agree about the somewhat neglected Dengar, always thought he was pretty cool, and 4-Lom even has a leather cape. Kinky.

Yeah i've always liked 4-Lom too. He kills it with the accessories. 8) Only figure with a leather cape. 8) 8)

WOAH...The above statement is sooooooooo wrong on so many levels. I think its a case that you just don't like the movie so as a result don't like the figures. The sculpting quality clearly improved through all the films releases. ROTJ expanded the Star Wars universe by showing literally every alien your imagination could think of and Kenner produced a good proportion of them all with great sculpts and many with soft goods and removable accessories.
Agreed,

Name me any ROTJ figure from the 77back that is worse than Walrus man?
Good point. He makes Madine look like a master-peice.

WOOOAAAAH knocking Walrus Man is wrong on so many levels...

C'mon Chubbs your sealboy needs defending, he's been slated good and proper but no one's sticking up for him  what makes him such a catch :?:

Walrus Man is a classic figure, classic 70's feel, classic 70's colour scheme, classic 70's inaccuracies. This guy just screams Vintage Star Wars from every plastic pore. Sure you can knock his body sculpt and his accuracy but that's not what its about to a certain degree, a figure like this would not be made today. More character than the Last 17 figures that were made years later and with much more experience.

This guys is so real the original Wally I had as a kid let his right arm fall of to make sure he was more 'canon'.

Sorry to go off topic but back to the last 17...

A real mixed bag for me, some figures seemed to raise the bar on 'screen accuracy' but others just seem basic created on budget and on time if you know what I mean. Flicking through some pics of the line, I have got to say the 'worse' of the Last 17 are in the minority.

Mumbo had Imperial Gunner and Yak face as a kid so I remember them first time round and I remember thinking Imperial Gunner was a great figure.

I always liked Dengar - He was one I was never able to find as a kid

Add me to the 'Wally' fan club, always liked the figure, looks like nothing else in the line due to the bright colours and classic 70's styling about him. Wally is Mr Vintage

I see them as the last 15 but I can't bring myself to spend any cash on these figures either. I've recently re completed my collection by replacing missing weapons, which was far more important to me than getting the last 15.

As a kid I marked the figures I needed on the back of cardbacks. The last one I had listed 79 figures, i got all those and then stopped collecting. It looks like dengar was a hard figure to get around my way as well.

I remember some more figures were released but I had little interest in them at that point (i was born in 74). I remember being pissed off when my mum & brother got me a Y wing for a birthday or Christmas present, I thought I'm too old for this! I still have the Y wing and it's in loads better condition than the rest of my toys.

A slightly older friend who also collected SW stuff went round toy shops and bought up loads of bin ends and boxed stuff - he still has lots of it. A few years ago he gave me some large ships and a few of the loose last 17 (15).

As a teenager I remember baby sitting for a family friend, I asked the kids if they had any Star Wars toys and they produced Andaman and a few others I didn't recognise, I thought they aren't Star Wars figures!

With reference to good and bad figures I can't understand how anyone can dis the iconic Power Droid, my brother and i burnt the feet on ours - i've still got it.

Walrus man was called bum face around my way! He is a great figure though.

Great thread!

Yep

SW figs were the only thing i spent pocket money on, the only thing i asked for as Christmas & Birthday presents etc.

People knew i was well into Star Wars, so i 'inherited' stuff from older children of family friends. I also swapped a play person pirate ship for a friends Star Wars collection - a swap he still regrets to this day!

It's all in the showcase thread on display with some bigger ships that a friend gave me a few years ago. The stuff he gave me was in far better condition than mine and he gave me 3 tie fighters and as a kid I didn't even have one. He got loads of stuff from bin ends when no one was really collecting. As an adult his wife wasn't that happy with it all, so he offloaded loads of the bigger stuff to me to keep her sweet!

Awesome. And very cool that you still have that card with the names crossed off. 8) "got got got neeed got"

omg!!!

i did the same with a weequay cardback i had, put a little pen mark by each one i had.

that weequay cardback is long gone and i think it would be near impossible to find it again but i would love to see it.

Sorry to res-erect a dead thread, but i just wanted to tell you all that I'm a massive liar!
I must have forgotten that 'I can't bring myself to spend any cash on these figures' as I've won an ebay lot containing 13 of the last 15. I may as well buy the rest now: Yak Face & R2 Lightsabre. Plus Blue Snaggle is still needed. Feel free to shoot me if I ever buy the ewoks or droid range!

I have made a mockery of my post below!

perhaps variants but i really hope I don't get the droids and ewoks.

I haven't even got room for the last 17 in my display cases. In fact Oli, I think I got my cases off the same place as you, after i saw your showcase or a post you had made. Thanks

olisuds said:
LOL You'll be on the Ewoks and Droids series in no time. And then variants no doubt :)

Cool would love to see a picture? I've so far managed to squeeze 113 figures into the 2 cases. So there is room for Last 17 and Droids and Ewoks :)

Wow, i think i went for the wider ones and i've only got 79+ in them! The last 15 don't deserve to be next to my childhood figures!

Wow they look really great. Wish I had the wider ones, I didn't even know they did that size. My cases are pretty crowded in comparison. You definitely have room for droids, Ewoks are many variants :)
