Star Wars Celebration 7

So,

I spent this week looking at the flight prices going up and down around the £700 quid mark and thinking about booking. I have a reservation at a motel that I can cancel but I thought it prudent to have something just in case.

And I thought I wonder if I can do a air miles plus cash fair with virgin, as I flew with them to Miami in 2012 and south africa last year on my honeymoon. When we did the honeymoon, we did some bartering and got some upgrades at the airport.

Turns out I have a decent number of air miles. Enough to get out to LA to my surprise. Furthermore, the Mrs has decided she will go to Marbella with her friend at the same time, and if I buy her ticket out to Spain and back I can have her air miles to get back home again. Only fly in the ointment was I couldn't get an economy seat with my air miles on the way back, so unfortunately I have had to go premium.

So its done, booked, paid for and I have a four day ticket to Celebration 7. Just hoping to get some better accom than the knights inn anaheim nearer the time, but if all else fails at least I am there.

Jason, I'm staying at the Stanford inn and suites. I hope it's not too far away.

I think flights are currently weighing in at £650

I can't wait

That's a really good price for a flight boys. They were about £800 return back in Apr.

What day/time is your flight back on Virgin?

Both BA and Virgin are showing £706.36 currently for those flights.

Hi Jason.

I'm flying back on the Monday. I am booked at the moment on the afternoon flight, but I might be changing to the 22:20 overnight flight as I might be able to use my flying club points to upgrade to upper class on that flight.

If you have flying club points you could use them. It's 21500 each way economy. You can get 10000 free by taking out a Virgin cc and spending £1000 on it. You can also get 625 for £2.50 worth of tesco club card vouchers so in theory you could do one way for £47.50 club card vouchers plus taxes. You can also buy flying miles from Virgin. You could buy enough for a one way ticket for £345 plus taxes. There may be other ways to get miles as well.

Alternatively if you have loads of club card vouchers, it would work out at £87.50 each way plus taxes.

That's good for a return with those two!

Sad it's true but I've got a countdown app on my phone. It tells me exactly how long I have to wait until various diary dates. Today it hit 200 for Anahiem, sweet.

Bloody hell Carol Vorderman that's awesome maths. It seems like it's cheaper to go there than stay here!

Isn't it your birthday the week before. That means you have 200 days to Anaheim and 193 until you get laid! What a week that will be ;)

Have made a reservation at the Stanford inn so I'll book with Virgin so we can be travel buddies.
Was planning on the same flight out as you and a return flight at 22:20 on the Monday so we can go to Disney
with Jez and Grant on the Monday. Will book the flights on payday next week hopefully.

cheers Jason

Quick word of warning. I will be premium economy on the way out and upper class on the way back (all courtesy of club card vouchers and credit card deals using flying miles ;) )

Love turning right when boarding a plane. ;)

Love it even more when it's done on the cheap.

It's ok mate, I know you will want to do the decent thing and swap seats half way through the flight. You're good like that.

:)

Good call on air miles. I had a look and I had 32000 virgin air miles expiring in 4 days time. So I paid
£150 to buy another 10000 and then the flight cost me £270, so all in I paid £420 for flights!

Going out on Wednesday at 11.15am, returning Monday at 22.20pm

I'm going to CE7!!!!! (assuming I remember to buy tickets)

:D
