I seem to be obsessed with the paint on these figures! If you have figures with near perfect paint on them is there ever any chance of the paint wearing off? For example if you had them all on your shelf on display would they start to lose paint and wear away?
 
Just out of curiosity but do you live inside an active volcano?

It's common knowledge that displaying vintage star wars collections inside chambers of liquid hot magma is usually a bad idea. Other poor locations include war zones, inside nuclear reactors and between the beasts of militant feminists.

Unless one (or all) of these situations applies to you then you should be fine.
 
I have a feeling that this chap is just a troll - not sure Joe's patience will last much longer
 
Could always just vacuum pack each figure then encase them in concerate, that should protect them
 
Just remember, you're handling one of a kind relics of critical importance to humanity, and not (like many people think) mass- produced, durable toys for use by children. Latex gloves, CSI suit, oxygen re-breather, vacuum environment and you're all set.

And besides, if they lose some paint Dulux have a great range of paints to match for repairs,
 
Yes the paint will just fall off of it's own accord. Research has shown that the paint used on Star Wars figures has a shelf life of around 40 years after which it will just fall off, sometimes in one piece leaving a kind of microscopically thin shell in the shape of Luke or whoever. Collectors are shitting themselves :eek:

That at least explains the C-3PO's with no paint….great info there, you learn something new every day :D

Come on guys, give him a break. It sounds more like someone who's just really excited about getting into collecting. I think they're genuine questions. If you were starting from square one and maybe hadn't grown up with the toys you wouldn't know about graded vs non-graded or how to treat the figs and you might come to a forum to ask some advice?

He's just trying to show he's reverential to the figs, which is something a lot of new collectors (like me) feel they need to prove when they first get into the community.

Basically this guy has come along with a load of excitement, asked a couple of questions and been told to f*** off.
 
We'll see. It's not just this question that's made folk question their motive. This and the thread on repros do make you wonder.

Still, willing to give them the benefit of th doubt for now. Could just be very new to it all.
 
It's a bit more than that BadMotivator and I'm with you on not giving new members a hard time but this bloke/lass/child has been asking dodgy questions for the past few days quite clearly constructed to bait a response. I'm pretty confident it's a sock account set up to goad members hence the slightly sarcastic replies.
 
I don't know, I looked through his post history before I posted and it didn't seem that bad to me...

But then again maybe I'm just too dense to spot anything!

I will say though that I've been kicked off a forum before for simply asking polite questions. And that was a technical forum for a product I was considering buying at work! After three perfectly legitimate questions about specs that weren't in the manual I got banned for "getting peoples' backs up". In reality it was just one guy answering all my questions and I think he just got tired of it. My point is new users often have a million questions, which can annoy people if they feel they're spending all their time answering bullshit questions. But remember you don't have to answer them. Give him the benefit of the doubt for now, ignore his posts if they annoy you and if in a month he's still asking dumb ****, or reveals himself as Toy Toni in disguise then call him out or kick him off.

In reality his posts haven't been that Troll-y. If he'd said: "Anyone who doesn't buy repro is an idiot vintage fan-boi" Then yeah, I'd agree with you.
 
If the guy turns out to be legit then I will be very surprised - the 'your mom' thing did it for me - and the questions asked have definitely got an antagonistic feel to them - however innocent they may be

We'll see, but I think quite a few of us have this guys number !
 
His posts have been typical of many trolls on here over the years

Brand new member and first posts are all about liking repros, customs and recards - not one about best place to buy genuine stuff and all guaranteed to get a rise.

To be fair this post is just bizarre - got to be a piss take.

If he is genuine I'd be the first to apologise, but with his post about how to find that 'Spanish seller of repros' my money is on him being Nathan 'the Twat' Edwards himself.
