Premier League Discussion Thread Season 2014-15

Can't complain with the weekend's results as a Spurs fan, put excruciating to watch as ever! I can't remember the last time I saw a comfortable Spurs league victory.

Always nice to see Non league sides in the FAC 3rd round. I just hope they get a "big" team. The money they make from that game is often a life saver for smaller clubs. Plus the chance to play against some PL stars is not something those boys will likely get again.
I do feel sorry for them when they make the 3rd and then draw Crewe at home.

I think if they draw at home to Crewe Blyth's name will be on the cup :D

"Good"???

You serious? Lol. I thought that was one of the most boring draws I've seen. The "highlight" is Everton West ham. That's about as appealing as watching your Grandparents shagging!

No big all premiership clashes, no up and coming Championship side playing a mid table PL side, no real tricky away ties for the PL sides at all. Liverpool will probably lose cos they are shite ATM, but if they play to 60% of their potential (ok, that's about 30% more than they have managed so far this season, but anyway) they should win easily. Ditto Utd.

Chelsea might as well have been given a ****ing bye. City are no different.

Spurs, Newcastle, and Arsenal all drew PL sides but all of their opponents will throw the game to concentrate on avoiding relegation.

Saints, and Swansea will both walk their games. Ditto Derby. Ditto Boro.

The only other game I could see being remotely interesting is the potential Cambridge Luton clash, but thats assuming both win replays.

I wanna see PL sides given tough games, big teams playing each other or a feisty local derby. Instead i get Everton West Ham......

Yes I meant in terms of a few decent David v Goliath ties which is what the FA Cup is about

Dover v Palace
Possibly Aldershot v Forest
Yeovil/Accy Stanley v United. Would love to draw Stanley.
Wimbedon v Liverpool

The end may be nigh for Hereford.

Banned from all football activity now and back in court for the 11th time on Monday

So sad :)

Basically a **** of a owner not living within his means and then selling Hereford for a Pound to Tommy Agobar who has since failed the Fit and Proper Persons test and is a known criminal. Their not interested in the football. They just want to **** the fans over and want the stadium so they can build on it!

This short video explains it well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SgGYy0EaFs

Good to hear they survived.

Also great to hear Barber's adagio for strings on that Youtube clip. Had me thinking of Platoon straight away

Just a little experiment here. Give the top ten in the PL your rating out of 10 for how well they have performed so far this season, in all comps. 1 being shite, 10 being amazing.

As it stands, the top ten are;

Chelsea,
City,
Utd,
West Ham,
Saints,
Arsenal,
Newcastle,
Swansea,
Liverpool,
Spuds.

I suppose I should go first

Chelsea - 10 - Can't really fault them. I still think Mourinho has less class than a used Condom, but they are a very solid side.
City - 7 - Ticking over, not really hit their stride yet and relied on Aguero a little too much. Still in with a shout though.
Man Utd - 6 - In third but not played well in any game I have seen. Either very lucky or they are experts at grinding out results.
West Ham - 8.5 - Exceeded everyone's expectations this year, but they do still play a brutal brand of football.
Saints - 8 - Hard to judge as they have beaten the **** and lost to the "big" teams. Still people thought they would go down.
Arsenal - 6 - Same old arsenal. Great team when everyone is fit. But that happens once a season. Wenger never learns.
Newcastle - 7 - From shite to sublime. I suspect their next few fixtures will shaft them given injuries etc.
Swansea - 7 - Solid enough. Probably one of the best of the non traditional "big" sides.
Liverpool - 2 - Is that too generous? Bar the Spurs game they have looked like competition winners. It's hard to believe this team (and two extra strikers) came second last year.
Spuds - 3.5 - Is there progress under Potchetino? Does he need more time to sort out that bloated squad?

Chelsea: 8.8 (the best team in the premier league but in terms of world football still not in the same category as Munich, Madrid and Barca)
City: 8.2 (Still a powerful force in the premier league and have a serious chance of winning it if they keep Aguero fit)
Man Utd: 6.7 (getting better all the time. Still not particularly good but for my money the 4th best team in the league)
West Ham: 5.2 (Decent at the back. Well managed but not particularly good. Will finish much much lower)
Saints: 5.5 (Been punching above their weight all season and getting found out. Some decent players but not enough for a top 6 finish)
Arsenal: 7.2 (Underachieving and injuries a plenty as always but will finish in the top 4.)
Newcastle: 5.2 (Nothing much in this squad to write home about. Will finish between 8th and 11th)
Swansea: 5.3 (A couple of game winners could see them challenge for a top 7 finish. Decent side)
Liverpool: 6.1 (Sturriage being out has hurt them. But that's not the whole story. Bad purchases and a weak defence will see them finish outside the top 4. Possily as low as 6th)
Spuds: 5.8 (had a rough, up and down season and are still lacking a striker but considering they bought no one and have no striker are actually doing quite well. Can see them finishing in the top 6 this season.)

So this is based on 10 being as good as a football team can possibly be. Not a 10 being the best team in the league or even in europe.

Fair enough, i worked on 10 being the best domestically.

Ps, you're bloody generous to Liverpool. They've lost more games than they have won in all comps this year.
