Premier League Discussion Thread Season 2014-15

As already mentioned

top 5 tween Manu, Liverpool, ManCity, Arse, Chelsea
Badgering one of those for the Europa league (where I believe winners now get a CL Q berth)
Spurs & Everton

Top 10 contenders - Newcastle, Stoke, Palace, Sunderland, West Ham

Relegation wobblers - WBA, Burnley, Villa, Leicester

1st sacking: Alan Irvine

Surprise team: maybe QPR, wouldn't surprise me if Van Gaal won the title. They won it at a canter two years ago, some of the dross has gone, he'll be similar to Fergie in that he has the ability to motivate the average and he thinks the same way as my fave coach Raymond Verheijen. He understands physical recovery in players. Something Raymond would criticise David Moyes about. I notice Van Gaal has already been on the back of Luke Shaw about his fitness

Think Chelsea will win it this season, with costa especially

Utd will have top 4 finish Van Gaal may work the magic you never know maybe snapping at Chelsea s heels
Arsenal will struggle for top 4 I think

West Brom and prob Burnley Go down

I actually think Leicester will be the surprise package

I got a feeling arsenal will win it.hope city and chelsea dont buy it again.
We'll find out how good rodgers is .
Relegation manu .qpr. and southamton as thry have been raped by big clubs

I love the way everyone always says Arsenal will struggle with top 4. Makes me chuckle.

Not confident for this season. Not because Suarez has gone but because we're buying too many bang average players. If we get in the top four I'll be relieved.

I must say i've not heard anyone say that. Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea should be top 3. Liverpool are expecting way too much after last season. I'd be surprised if they got top 4. Liverpool fans seem quite happy with their signings so far but i wouldn't be. Several so so signings to replace one of the best players in the world.
Chelsea finally signing a quality striker is going to make them very dangerous. Man Utd are promising a BIG signing to make everyone else sit up and take note, and they're gonna need it…. nothing yet tho… :?
Sours need a striker. The assumption that Liverpool will finish above Spurs could be a dangerous one if we do actually manage to find someone. We'll see.

I said I fancy arsenal ......if they keep ramsay and whilshere fit.tjem two ozil walcot ox and sanchez .what a midfield. I'd love us to sign ramsey

Costa at Chelsea could be a massive disappointment. Look at his career, one very good season, the rest was distinctly average. He does suit Chelsea's "style" (cough GBH, Fat Sam-esque shite) but that's no guarantee.

I worry for Liverpool - last season was built on Suarez (though Sturridge was class) and having no CL games to play

No Suarez and the hassles of playing in the CL will make life tricky

Although Spurs were relatively dire last year, all those players should have gelled and I think they might be the surprise package

agreed

More optimistic about Arsenal than I have been for a long time, Ramsey, Ozil, Walcott and Sanchez supplying Giroud should be enough to challenge and plenty of quality on the bench. I'd rather they were supplying Suarez or Messi but all Giroud has to do is stand there - most importantly they have a new fitness coach

saying that they'll finish 5th now

Could be very close this year. Reckon if Arsenal keep everyone fit (a very big IF), they'll be right in it.

Chelsea
Man Ure
Arsenal
Man City
Liverpool

Followed by Everton and Spuds.
Followed by Newcastle, West Ham, Stoke, Sunderland in no particular order.

Strugglers: West Brom, Burnley, Southampton, Leicester, Villa, Palace, Swansea.

My concern is who is gonna win the ball.

Rotating Flamini and Arteta should be good enough for fourth if not better. If no-one new comes in I think Wenger's plan is to keep the ball, beat the average teams and get thumped 6-0 a few times. It worked last year

Yeah, I think I said something similar in one of the other threads. I just don't get why Wenger doesn't go out and buy a ruddy holding midfielder. He can even buy a young French one FFS!

Attacking midfielders isn't an area the Arsenal squad is lacking in. Quite the opposite.

This season is going to be really interesting that's for sure. Unfortunately Chelsea I think will win it. Best Libpool can hope for is fourth but I don't think we'll get it - too many new players to bed in and the defence is still shaky. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong!

Pepe Reina for 2.5 million? That's a bargain IMO. Bayern have done well there. Sure he wants big wages, but nothing Bayern will struggle with.

Not sire why Reina has gone to be a sub, again, but still
