Premier League 24/25 Thread

Liverpool a bit unlucky winning the league stage and then getting PSG in the last 16. I'm not complaining, I hope Villa or Arsenal win it but can see both going out in the quarter finals, hopefully not. Real Madrid always seem to find a way.

We could see a season ending result at Old Trafford tonight, that will be pretty depressing.

Not half as depressing as sir Jim the cunts interview with Gary Neville. A billionaire that thinks the best way to save money at Utd is to take lunch off people that are probably on minimum wage, or not much more and by taking 40k from ex players. Maybe, just maybe, stop handing out stupid contracts.

And yes, I'm well aware that Arsenal did shitty things like sacking the mascot during Covid etc. I thought that was a cunts trick as well.

Jim is a Moron, I mean he goes on about a body language coach on £145k a year, oh right so you sacked another 449 people as well. Not one mention that the Glazers are costing the club over £3 million a month in interest repayments on the money they borrowed to buy the club 20 years ago. He's just a puppet for the Glazers.

The bit about Utd sacking all these people that I don't get is why the players haven't said, "here boys if we all chip in 1k per week (in some cases a three hundredth of their weekly salary) we can save these people getting sacked."
First team squad of what, 20 players? 1kpw by twenty players, over a year is just over a million quid. That will save 36/37 people on 30k a year.
And Utd's squad is probably bigger than 20 players and surely the higher paid members could chip in more than 1k!?

And I agree on the daft contracts, the wasted transfer spending, the Director football cluster **** and giving ETH a new contract when NO ONE was after him and then sacking him.

For a business man Jim is pretty dim.

Aye, that has been bugging me from the off. Win the group stage and get PSG, Barca get Benfica, Arsenal PSV, Villa Club Brugge and Inter Feyenoord. Luck of the draw, and you have to beat the best sides eventually, but feck me that is a properly stinking draw.

Might sound stupid, but I think I'd rather play Real than Atleti

I see where you are coming from, Atleti are too street smart for Arsenal and frankly will just eat (kick) you. But Real have unbelievable luck in the CL and a history of very favourable calls going in their favour. In fact, I'm struggling to think of a harsh call that has ever gone against Real in Europe.

Look at that double touch on the penalty on Wed night, I've seen dozens of replays of it and I still cant see a second touch. It sure as **** isn't clear or obvious. Yet VAR step up and call it.

You tell me, where is the second touch?

Atleti would kick you off the pitch and dive and play act. But Real have endless luck and consistently ehhhh friendly officials to help them out.

Double touch or not that whole rule needs looking at. Try and tap it then whack it and yeah, scrap the penalty. Slip and hit the ball off both feet (or whatever it is he's supposed to have done) and it should be the same as keeper off the line and retake the penalty.

That angle I can't see a double touch and it's the best angle I've seen. Stupid decision.

I haven't seen a single angle that shows a double touch. A few make it look close, but nothing shows that he DEFINITELY hit it twice. Which surelyis the reason why VAR got involved?
If they see clear evidence they speak up, if not ehh they don't.
Yet they looked at that and thought it was clearly a double touch.

I just wish those VAR guys had been looking at PSG's pens on Tues night

I almost enjoyed watching Newcastle, until the end of the game when they started time wasting again. The ref should have sent the whole team off, who the f**k do they think they are? They just stop playing the second 90 minutes passes, it's embarrassing to watch and made me want Liverpool to nick it off them.

Oh and I wish we could have played that Liverpool in the semi second leg

Newcastle were excellent. Totally deserved that, although agree about the time wasting, it's horrible. I can understand it to a degree in a final, when they haven't won a trophy for 70-odd years, but they do it week in, week out. Joelinton was outstanding, but how he manages to stay on the pitch every game is incredible. Not sure he did anything particularly bad yesterday, but most times I see him, he should be booked at least 3 times and gets away with it.

Chiesa looked good when he came on.

Speaking of embarrassing - oh Spurs. Another absolutely dreadful performance against Fulham. I don't see any quality left in our team - Son is past his best, players like Davies and Bentancur have the right mentality but are just bang average Championship players, and then we have a load of kids that are probably quite talented but either completely naive (Gray, Bergvall) or too busy worrying about which Rolex to buy next to put in a shift on the pitch (Bissouma, Spence etc.) If Leicester and Ipswich weren't so bad I would be genuinely worried about our chances of staying up!

Joelinto is a thug. He should have ten times the red cards he does, but he (and all the Newcastle team) was/were superb yesterday.

I'm no footballing tactician, but putting Alexis MacAllister who is four foot three on seventeen foot Dan Burn for corners does seem a bit like asking for trouble and look what happened.

Poch to go in the summer @edd_jedi?

It was amazing to actually see the Toon win a major trophy yesterday. I think we thoroughly deserved it. We beat Forest, Wimbledon, Chelsea, Brentford, Arsenal and Liverpool for the right to lift that trophy, four of those teams are currently the top four in the prem. C'mon the toon!

Poch? They'd take him back I'd say

Assuming you mean Ange he'll be out of the door the minute we lose to Frankfurt! Or knowing Levy, maybe 5 minutes before the Europa League final if we get there

Lol, doh! Yeap, I meant Ange. Proper switched on me.

Who do you reckon Levy will appoint next then? Not a lot of great managers out there. Knowing Levy, he'll go for someone cheap! 🙄 Fat Sam has been of work for a while, I wonder would he agree to work for 27p a week, half a curly wurly and a free tracksuit?

100% deserved it, best team on the day by a mile. The score line flattered Liverpool.
Zero arguments, deserved winners.

Now, be nice and sell us Isak for Nunez and 20million 😉

International football, sigh.

Does anyone give a ****?

I used to watch the qualifiers etc., now I really couldn't care less. It just gets in the way of proper football.

With a few Arsenal players involved I was tempted, then I stuck Breaking Bad on, which I'm working through for the first time.

City to win the FAC then, that'll be novel and exciting! 🙄🥱

Here's hoping Forest bore them to death with their 'flat back ten and hope' BS
