Premier League 2012/13 Discussion Thread

True, but Chelsea eeked out another good win today - going forward they look quality - reckon it is Man U's to loose but a couple of injuries at the back and their already brittle defense will be under more presure

Injuries at the back?!

RVP is more important to them than any of their defenders. Take him out of that team, and if Rooney has one of his bad patches (that come along every 6 weeks or so) they'll struggle, given the rate they are shipping goals.

Strange thing to say, but this Utd team are pretty **** (by Utd's standards).............and they are 7pts clear at the top of league!

Totally agree. If you look at them on paper then other than RvP who else would Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc want? However, Man U are a good TEAM hence why they're top and why they'll win the league. City and Chelsea do not play for each other.

Seconded!

Utd as a team are, and always have been, more than the sum of their parts. The other teams, City especially, are the opposite.

PS, THAT'S why Chelsea aren't title contnders. That QPR side are one of the worst teams the PL has seen since Derby.

Rafa up to his old tricks again. Why rest your best players?? Moron. He cost Liverpool the title pulling **** like that. I've never understood the reasoning even when you have a CL game coming up but all they have coming up are shitty FA cup games so wtf??
Anyway, good! I'm a Spurs fan so happy for managers of teams around us to make idiotic decisions like that. That one result could really **** their season.

Yeah. I expected QPR to bounce back after that first half against Liverpool. I thought Harry would be a bit more defensive, cos they really were woeful for 45 mins. So for Rafa to rest Mata AND Hazard was asking for trouble.
Saying that, he's only there till the summer when they appoint someone else so hardly bothers him. But i agree, strange decision.

Yeah he's rested one or the other a few times which i think is very questionable as i think they are 2 of the best midfielders in the league (everyone does!) so why rest either EVER? Especially when goals aren't really coming from anywhere else. But like you say, to rest BOTH for no obvious reason (no big game coming up, neither coming back from injury etc) is just mind boggling, no matter who you are playing. A. Cole was also rested.

Ehhh Liam!?

I can understand resting one of hazard and mata, after how Silva nose dived in the second half of last season and given Mata played in the Euro champs AND Olympics. But again, both at the same time is asking for trouble.

I still say rest em next week for the FA cup. I could agree with you if they had Man U or Man City next week altho i'm still of the school of thought that a player is probably worse off for the next game when rested not better.

True. Unless he wanted to give Mata two weeks off. I know Di Matteo had talked about giving him another break after the September rest he had.
Basically, Rafa underestimated QPR or over-estimated how good his squad players were.

Ba to Chelsea looks to be a done deal. Not sure if he's the kind of player Chelsea need. Undoubtedly they need a striker, and at 7 million he's great value, but i just worry he's not quite the quality that the reigning European champions need.

Aguero's goal last season saved Manchini's job. He has under achieved massively give the resources at his disposal. My granny could manage that City team to second in the PL! They should be leading by 10 pts not playing catch up.

As for the CL, well he has done no better than expected, given his pathetic track record in the competition. For all the money City have, whoever is behind the scenes is doing a very bad job of advising sheik Mansour. Mediocre managers and over paying massively for run of the mill squad players (phillips, milner, rodwell, sinclair, santa cruz , adebayor, toure etc etc etc).
