Premier League 2012/13 Discussion Thread

What actually happened ?

All I saw was someone maf bloke in the stands and Ferdinand with a cut eye

When Rio was celebrating pieces of glass I think where thrown in his direction and after the final whistle the trouble has continued between the fans :(

Not a great game but a good ending on the pitch. Off the pitch disgraceful. How long before an idiot fan causes some real damage. Anyone remember when the moped was thrown from the upper tier to away fans below in an Italian match? Lucky no-one was killed back then and we haven't learnt the lessons. It's no good banning these people from football. They need to be jailed.

Utd continue to be the luckiest team ever. Buying RVP was a masterstroke for them. Not many Glazer Out chants today I bet!

As for Camel mouthed Ferdinand, well, I'll keep my non-wonky mouth shut!

This might explain it

To quote Sir Alex

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson: "It's unfortunate that a City fan runs on and coins are thrown. That shouldn't happen. The same thing happened at Chelsea, which was masked by all the other things. We could have done without that.

"At Chelsea, We had half a seat thrown on the pitch, coins, lighters, and nothing done about it. It's a problem. As for today, I'm going to dismiss it from my mind because it was such a good game. You couldn't take your eyes off it today, it was so engrossing. It tells you about the quality of the Premier League, it's such a great league."

Good work finding those pics Iain :)

I don't remember Ginsoak saying similar things when Bellamy was on the receiving end in 2010 at Old Toilet though.

Good to see the smaller clubs (them two Manchester sides) getting their moment in the sun before the main event (Liverpool West Ham) 8)

Man City need to be docked points for what happened yesterday. Until teams are punished with point deductions for the behaviour of their fans whether it be throwing things at players, pitch invasions or rascist abuse it will just keep happening
It's a harsh but very simple and effective to put an immediate stop to all of it.

Davils advocate here Pete, but as a Spurs fan, how many points should your team be docked for the anti-semetic chanting/banners ?

Being a club with jewish foundations we have a lot of anti-simetic chanting against us. I dont recall our fans ever chanting it at someone else. Wouldn't make a lot of sense if we did.
Also my comment is not relevant to who I support. If my fans were.throwing things at players I would like to see us docked points. When Bale dives and wins a pen i'd like to see him retrospectively banned for 3 games. I'm not an Arsenal fan so I can admit when my club or a player at my club is in the wrong. The rascist chanting thing I genuinely don't know what you're referring to.

I hope you're ashamed at posting links to the Daily Mail!

FFS it's up there with Pravda and the Pyongyang Times in the balanced journalism stakes!

SHAME ON YOU!

Oh wow, you were refering to us calling ourselves yid army. Do I rreally need to explain that ?? :?

No, I fully understand, and as I said in my first comment - I am playing Devils Advocate as I don't personally think this is an issue, but others do, so where do you drawn the line in terms of penalising clubs for what is sung in the terraces

Very simple- rascist abuse directed at players or oposings fans should be unnaceptable. Afectionately referring to yourselves in an obviously humerous, self depricating manor which has always been a defence mechanism designed to take power away from opposing fans who have for decades hurled anti-semetic abuse at Spurs fans, in my mind, and lets also be clear, thete is no abuse involved in this scenario, is clearly not something we need to concern ourselves with.
