I missed the first half of Pool Spuds, sounds like I missed the good bit. The second half was bloody poor football, very scrappy. From what i've heard and the highlights i've seen Pool deserved it, and maybe should have won by more, but hard to disagree with you boys that it was more Spuds being **** than Pool being brilliant.
Do feel sorry for Hull. That first goal, while not intentional, WAS handball. The fact the ref apologised at HT for not seeing it implies he would have disallowed it. You gotta wonder WTF the Linesman was doing given he had a clear view of it and was looking right at it!? Still, he'll have plenty of time to think about it when he's off in League one next week.
I also thought Kieran Gibbs was amazingly lucky not to be sent off. He was the last man (by 10-15 yards) and made no attempt to play the ball. He blatantly body checked Markovic and gets a yellow card? It's a professional foul and as last man it's a red card. Everyone's favourite ball bag, John Terry, got one for something similar a few weeks ago. Who knows what would have happened had Arsenal gone down to 10. From the highlights it looked like Hull's good form continued and they could well have got something. They are surprising me. They may well stay up. Their new manager, i forget his name, is doing a great job so far.
That in itself shows you how important "knowing the league" and getting the "English mentality" is
I wonder will Merson and Thompson et al be admitting to their mistakes in slagging his appointment? Lol
Course they won't why would xenophobic ex players ever admit they were wrong, they'll just move on and forget all about it. **** knows, if Mike Phelan was still in charge Hull wudnt have done that well, they sure as hell wouldn't have beaten Pool and got a point from Utd either.
On the subjct of English managers, good to see Fat Sam doing well. Couldn't happen to a more deserving wanker.
