PL 2015-16 Chat

Gary Neville does my head in a bit, but he does talk sense, remember 2 seasons ago on Monday night football he kept getting asked who was going to win that game and who was going to win that trophie and he just came out and said I don't know, your asking me to predict the future it's to close. Him and Jamie Carragher are good together as Carragher can talk for England almost as much as Neville. Also that time Carragher asked Neville who he would prefer to win the league out of City and Liverpool and he said I don't know it's like picking a bloke to sleep with your wife, classic!

Okay, this is PL chat but.......bloody brilliant, brilliant Arsenal, 2-0 against Bayern.

Over the bloody moon!!! 8)

Thought Arsenal were better team tonight deserved the win. Although I almost had to turn over as I find Owen Hargreaves commentary appalling.

I didn't have that misfortune, I was at home listening on 5 live as I had my son in bed and other half at work. Just makes me wish we were consistently that good.

I think Arsenal have gone up a level this season, have to wait and see? :? Good idea that, next time Hargreaves is on I'll put the TV on mute and turn 5 LIve on. :D

Yeah although I'm still skeptical that just adding a goalkeeper, no matter how good he is, to the same team that finished 3rd is the way to win the league. See where we stand in January I guess.

Arsenal traditionally hit a bad patch in Jan or Feb when their legendarily bad medical department and the dreaded "3 week" injury lay off, that turns out to be effectively season ending, kicks in.

This season just gets better and better!

Cheer up Jose

I can only see one ending for JM from here. If he does come back from this then fair play to him, but I doubt it.

He won't quit because he wants the payout from his new contract if they sack him.

As for our crack squad of med school rejects you're right, it has been an issue for years. Although to be fair to them Jesus would struggle with Wilshire's ankles. I personally think we should cut our losses before he becomes the next Diaby.

Agreed on Jose. He's a short term borderlin cheque book manager. This is his thirs season at Cheslea, he's never gone beyond three years at a club before, that says a lot. Where does h go from Chelsea? Spain is out, the rest of the PL is out, Bayern wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. He's done Italy. PSG or bust?

Can we now agree that I was right, tim sherwood is a terrible manager, was a poor appointment and has no place managing a PL team?

Writing has been on the wall for him in the past 2-3 games - he was even talking like a defeated man. It is a shame as I like to see young English managers get a chance in the Prem but I think your right about Sherwood - seems to be one of those guys that think they are better than they actually are

He got the spurs job cos he used to play for them and they needed a caretaker. He did ok, probably about as well as you would expect given the players at his disposal, but he never looked like anything other than a caretaker. On the back of that he got the Villa job and his complete lack of managerial know how shone through. Blowing smoke up players arses only gets you so far. Eventually you need tactics, formation changes and a few basic training drills. Tim had none of that. Sure, he changed formation a few times, but every time it looked like a change of formation for the sake of changing formation, not because of any tactical thought. A case of "4-4-2 isn't working, let's try 4-5-1 or 5-3-2" etc etc.

Some day Chairmen will learn good players DON'T automatically make good managers. Until then Tim will continue to get interviewed for jobs.

I think it's a bit harsh to be honest. Yes his body language has been poor in the last few weeks, but he hasn't won any games, why would he be cheery? And what's he supposed to do with the bunch of lemons he has inherited? Even if they appointed Furguson they wouldn't magically be top 5 next month. You can only blame the manager for so much - the players, their form, morale, and of course luck all have an equal part to play (it's amazing how few people seem to accept that luck is a major part of football when virtually every game balls hit the post or the officials get decisions completely wrong.) So yes it's his responsibility as manager, but I don't think he's the only problem with the club right now. Isn't he also on paper the most successful manager Spurs have had in recent years? Not bad for a team that's consistently in the top 5 or 6.

I don't blame Sherwood entirely. Villa as a club have been sinking for 5-6 years, since Lerner decided he wanted out. BUT Tim is a piss poor manager and at no stage did he look like he had any idea how to solve their problems or get them winning again. Six defeats on the bounce speaks for itself.

On an unrelated note, massive congratulations to Utd and City and producing what was one of the worst games of football I've ever seen. I have had more exciting root canals.

Ohh and Wayne Rooney's stats from the game, worst passing accuracy, fewest touches and lost the ball more than any other outfield starter for Utd. Lost possession 28 times, next highest was Rojo on 23. Passing accuracy of 54.8% (from a ****ing PROFESSIONAL?) next lowest was Rojo on 78%. He had 50 Touches, next lowest was Mata on 52. The same Mata who was subbed after an hour. Clearly that's worth £300K a week.

54.8% passing accuracy, is little better than 50:50. If he had closed his eyes and kicked it in a random direction he'd have (almost) a 50:50 chance of passing to a team mate. Staggering.

I thought the Manchester derby was a good match but then it ment something to me. Nice to see some English teams defending properly for once, rather than just relying on pace and power to get results. Rooney is finished in my opinion should have sold him two season's ago, he's lost a yard of pace and he's not as mobile or agile as he used to be. If Aguero had been fit City probably would have won that game.

I can only assume you were watching a rerun of an old game on SkySports "Dave" channel!
That was a dreadful game, devoid of excitement, goal mouth incident, chances, half chances, quarter chances, feisty tackles, bookings, talking points, incidents of any note what-so-ever.

I just don't get how LVG can't see Wayne Rooney is currently making Jason Lee look like a world class player. Literally everyone else sees it. If I was a Utd sub I'd be putting in a transfer request. If Rooney, in that form, gets picked a head of you what hope is there?
