Original Unaltered Trilogy on Blu Ray

Around a year ago I picked up a Blu Ray set of the 3 Original Trilogy films on blu ray in an unaltered state. Rather than the Lucas altered Special Editions these has all the alterations removed and returned the films to the original state. Han shoots first clearly for example !

The picture Quaility on all 3 Blu Ray is astounding and as good, possibly better in places than the official Blu Rays.

Has anyone else obtained these and does anyone know how they were produced ? I did a web search once to try and find out but fan edits of the films are not hard to come by.

There are a lot of fan edits out there, so it's likely someone's burned one of these to blu-ray and sold them on (which is against the spirit of fan edits and very naughty - especially when they're freely available to download).

The pictures quality of the OT official blu-rays is notoriously bad, particularly for the poor colour balance, which is why the well done fan edits look so much better. My personal favourites are Harmy's Despecialised editions, which are available in HD. In particular the latest versions of SW and ESG look stunning.

Did anyone ever edit out the crap from Episode 1, 2 & 3 and produce a film that is about 60 minutes long ?

Seriously, dumping all the Love stuff from Attack of the Clowns ( Clones ) would help as a start

There are a number of fan edits of the prequel trilogy if you look in the right places! Each takes a different approach to what they keep/remove so there's pretty much something for everyone!

Whilst looking online to see if the latest Blu-ray boxset of Ep IV-VI was the remastered OT, I found an article which suggests that this will be happening despite GL's wishes. It was during an interview with one of the producer/director/top doggy types from the new films (can't recall who) but he basically said it would be rude not to and Disney were supportive of the idea. This was at a press conference. Will try and find the link again.

Wouldn't be the first time it was rumoured to have been green lit but we can but hope...

I think now Star Wars is under Disney and they know how to make a few quid I think we are more likely to see the original theatrical cuts being released. There is a market for it and I'm sure Disney knows it.

I can forgive uncle George's tinkering over the years if he were to make the originals available like for example go and buy bladerunner or aliens and you'll find several cuts of the movie in the box.

I don't see why uncle George is so against the original trilogy, I understand some scenes he was not satisfied with and waited until the FX could do what was once impossible.
The movies available to buy now are not the same movies that won oscars and nominations years ago. These movies were made by 1000s people not just by Uncle George and are a record of movie making 76-83 and should be treasured by all.

Off topic but the only version of Bladerunner i've ever seen is the Directors cut, the one without a voice over. Is it worth trying to get hold of the un-edited version? On the Dangerous Days DVD opinions seem divided. Like Marmite

Blade Runner is such a 'dreamlike' movie that it works better with just the Vangelis soundtrack imho. Plus Harrison Ford sounds bored shitless on the narration.

He is. If you watch Dangerous Days (the best making of ever IMO) he talks about being contractually obligated to do the voice overs despite thinking that they were 'pretty weird'. He also goes onto say that he didn't enjoy the movie until the voice over was 'dissected' for the directors cut.

His name escapes me but the director of The Shawshank Redemption gave the best critique of the narration during Roy Batty's death scene. It went something like "thankyou for kicking this beautiful, delicate, emotional note that we were achieving right in the nuts"
