I am sick to the back teeth of so called fans of Premiership teams who never go and watch them play. Kids, price, travel, can't get ticket there's no excuse so please edd if any of them post in this specific thread then ban them
This is for actual supporters of football teams ie you go and watch them play live week in week out and not sit on the armchair watching evilsky, wether its Championship, non league, even as low as the realms of Scottish football
Right, i'll start the discussion off. I support Grimsby Town FC who are currently the big fish in the Blue Square Premier. I have seen them go top of the Championship with a 1-0 win at Coventry, win the Auto Windscreens trophy at Wembley, beat Liverpool away and Spurs at home in the cup and we hold the record attendence for an fa cup semi-final of 76,962. That's history tho' and over the last few years we have got gradually shitter and slipped out of the league. The season has just finished and i have recently been to the likes of Telford, Southport, Alfreton, Bath god these places are like bombsites compared to what we are used to but i will say the beer is better, you can smoke inside the grounds and the banter, stewards and fans are more friendly than getting turfed out of Notts Forest for standing up!
Well that's it for starters. Anyone else support someone crap like me? Don't feel bad, get it out and off your chest. Your team is your team thru' thick and thin. You cannot change what colour your blood is and we take the rough with the smooth. We can't all support Man Utd :D

Nice Thread Chiffy Although i do Support United  I have been to quite a few of Alfreton Games this season :) (I only live (15 mins away) You must really happy you manage to sign Liam Hearn from us eh?

Surely it was a fair swap, you got fat Jarmo lol. To be honest Liam's been crap the last few months for us. He's been found out basically and the defenders just run him into the corners now but yeah all in all he looked like he was gonna take us back up this season until it all went pear shaped. Did you goto the Alfreton VS Grimsby game? We stayed over on the Friday in the travelodge hoping for a good night out but ended up in the Indian for a beer as the pubs were shut at 11. Think we were in the King Albert and the 3 bells? There was some trouble at the game cos' a load of banned Derby fans came over to 'interact' with our lot and we took approx 1500 fans so i don't think the stewards could cope. Good day out tho' and i will be there again next season as my old lady lives just down the road and she does a mean fry up :)

Nope I missed the Grimsby Game! I heard about the trouble tho! It caused a bit of a stir too because some long time Alfreton town fans got invovled and were banned while some idots that just come to the game to cause trouble are still allowed to attend. TBH if different ways we both suffered from the same thing - conceding cheap goals! :p

Go and watch your team every week!?
Have you SEEN Irish league football!? It's DIRE! I mean it's barely even playground standard. If the ball stays on the ground for more than 3 seconds it's a fecking miracle, and as for the "supporters" sadly over here it's still very sectarian, and I don't fancy getting my head kicked in for looking like one of the 'other side'.

Can I still post here?

I agree. I have seen the Glentoran v Linfield Northern Ireland on Sky Sports a few times and turned it after 30 mins both times! Times in the third tier of NON League would beat them! :?

 Another side that has suffered from conceding cheap goals this season!

Are you happy with your season Bez? or did youur team warrant a play off spot? The Fall of Stalybridge Celtic in that league was unbeiable

BTW Eastwood arent too far from me? By the looks of it they had a shocking season
BTW Guys you will soon realisle I am a really footie! I can tell you the fortunes of any team virtually regardless of their divison!

Ehh they the "best" in that league!

Well the lowest i've stooped was last season which was our debut in the non league scene was when we were drawn away to Chasetown in the FA Trophy. What an eye opener! The 1 pub in the village was lovely but as we drank our ale, the home team were sat next to us eating their pre match meal. In the ground there was no seggregation! I asked a steward where the toilets were and he pointed behind the burger bar so off i went. Behind the burger bar was a big pond with people pissing in it! And to top it all off we lost 2-1  I can laugh about it now but OMG at the time i felt suicidal to see how low we have dropped :?

I support Pompey, good times ahead next season

We may even go down to the Blue square league but **** it I dont care will always support them no matter what!

I dont like watching football so would never go to a game........I do support Nottingham forest and sat through plenty of relegations in the last 20 years.

I am glad Wigan stayed up as they deserved it through fighting spirit.

Hey Browny it's not that bad down here actually and if you do meet us in a few years time i'll shout you the best fish n chips in the land pal

Hi guys.Good to hear from normal fans. Can empathise with you all.

I support Aberdeen. Taken to games by old man from a young age. Go to less games now. Probably about 20 a season. We have been in steady decline as has scottish football since I started going in the late 80s. Prior to that a certain Alex Ferguson was our manager. My team even won cup winners cup in 1983. Also quite a few league titles. I guess i was the jinx.

Couldnt support any other team. Try to support premiership team but cant develop emotional attachment. Particularly the blind optimism i develop in the hours leading up to kick off then the realisation 5 min into the game we are piss poor.

Also go to Scotland games which although you might not believe it is to watch a better standard of football?!

Yo Steesh,

A few years ago Grimsby hosted Aberdeen, Hearts and Dundee in pre season. I can remember watching your game and Mike Newell was up front, We won 2-1, we then beat Hearts 2-0 and finally drew 2-2 with Dundee who i can remember had the Bonetti/Caniggia combo playing.
Also, i run a Sunday League team called Redstar Old Boys, and our goalkeeper, who is in his 40's, used to play for Aberdeen! Infact, we were out on the piss the other night and he was showing us footage of an old interview with Fergie on the training ground and he was in the background in goal picking cherries out of the top corner ha ha. His name's Dave Cole BTW if you wanna look him up and when i get chance i'll get you his autograph

Hey man,
Dont remember that Goalie. Would have been a good time yo be at aberdeen in the ferguson era. Probably quite difficult to get a game with leighton and bryan gunn there. Have to admit never seen the mighty Grimbsy.
That era was when scottish football started to die. All the clubs tried to compete with old firm spending too much on players like mike newell. Dundee were hilarious at the time. They signed canigia, ravanelli and a few others. Some mafia guy seemed to be involved and went bust shortly afterwards.
Like the sunday team name. Mighty reds! I was playing up until a month ago. Knee finally gave up on me. Definately going to miss it. Last few years playing sunday league been great.

Im just about to order the season ticket for myself and my son for Luton.I go to see them quite regularly, and my son asked this week if we can get season tickets this season.I love the idea, and the wife is great about it.I have three kids 3,4 and 15 and thought it would be good for myself and the oldest to spend more time together.

However, even though i am a Luton fan,my number one team has always been United since 1979.I remember watching them on TV aged 4 and just feeling that they were my team.In those days they werent who they are now,and what they are now.I went to Wembley in 85 when Stormin Norman scored that curler against big Nev.I went to see them very often, right up until i gave the season ticket up in 2002 after going through a messy serperation/divorce from my ex.It just didnt appeal to me anymore seeing them at OT and i found it a bigger pain in the arse.I was always seeing Luton play, and when i went to the play off Semi Final against Wrexham at home the other week,it made me realise what proper support is.Its just so much more of an atmosphere in the lower leagues.

FWIW,i didnt even watch the Premiership games today as to me the big teams are making a mockery of this league anyway.United,City,Chelsea...they are just buying glory, however,i will say that United have done anywhere near as much damage as Man City and Chelsea have done.

Also,Grimsby the big fish?? Maybe in the market stalls but not in the Conference.Luton are the biggest team in the league :D

Hi Palitoy,

This is nothing against you personelly pal ( see what i did there ) but i went to Kenilworth Rd for the 1st time ever the season before last and i have to say it was the most intimidating place i have ever been to and when i say intimidating i don't mean that as a good thing, atmosphere etc but the areas around the ground and the so called supporters! Maybe i was unlucky, wrong place, wrong time and all that but a couple of morons started on me as i was walking down the street and if i remember rightly it was the same time as those muslim marches. Jesus H Christ thank god i stink of fish rather than living there m8
PS Good on you for sticking with your local team. Nothing wrong with a prem team as backup and again, notthing personel, but i hope York stuff you today in the final for reasons already stated plus they will be out for revenge when the so called fans attacked them the other year, again, scary stuff! Did anything ever happen over that or was it just brushed under the carpet like a Galatasary knifer?
