I just finished watching all of the Little Britain episodes and I thought it was a brilliant show! How popular was this show in the UK? It is a shame that no matter where I go here in the States no one has even heard of it.
My favorite characters are Andy and Lou and Marjorie "CAKE!!!!" List your favorites if you feel like it.
Todd

It was huge here a couple of years back. It's kind of faded now a little tho still popular. Their last 2 seasons have been done in other countries. (US and Australia). It's still kind of funny but they do tend to repeat themselves.
Marjorie Dawes is my favourite character. SO funny.

I wasn't a fan either, however, the series they have just done based on the low budget airline documentaries was fecking hilarious. How they got away with some of the characters beats me!

What is the name of the airline documentaries?
Can you guys list some other great British comedies for me?
I have seen The Office, Extras, and Little Britain. I would love to see some more.

I must admit beyond those there's not a lot. I'm big in to the sort of things you lot produce- Seinfeld, Frasier, Curb Your Enthusiasm, My Name Is Earl, Southpark etc etc

ONe of my favourite british comedies of the last 20 years tho is "I'm Alan Partridge". Very much in the feel of The Office and came before it. It's that documentary style of sitcom. There's only 2 series with 6 episodes in each but it's pure genius.

Never found it funny, same weak jokes strung out week after week.
Matt Lucas was funny on the Smell of Reeves & Mortimer & Shooting Stars. David ****ing Walliams is creepy & smarmy as **** though.

Also how the get away with the racial stereotypes of some of the characters on Little Britain & the Airport thing is beyond me.

Just my opinion though

If you like those, check out Arrested Development. Make sure you start from season 1. It is genuis!

I have heard of the Alan Partridge show. I will have to see if I can get it.

Who is that funny ventriloquist from England? He seemed really good on the Little Britain episode I saw him on.

There are no funny ventriloquists...
No idea who you mean. All ventriloquists in the UK were put to death in about 1988.

I have seen Arrested Development tho not all the way through. I must DL it soon and watch the lot. It's an excellent show.

A lot of it depends on what you class as "British Comedy",there are lots of good shows and also a lot of crap but that will depend entirely on your sense of humour.
My favourite recent shows would either be 'Miranda' or 'Not going out', of the older shows i always enjoyed 'Spaced','Red Dwarf' and you still can't beat 'Monty Python's Flying Circus'.

The first series of Partridge is pure genius, one of the funniest things ever on TV. I have lost count of the amount of times I've seen each episode.

I agree. Are you talking about the one with him staying in the hotel? It just tops the Office for laughs (and that's saying something!) tho story wise the Office is more watchable.
Partridge basically started that kind of moc-umentary comedy that now is so common. Absolute genius.

How about Knowing Me, Knowing you?

Yeah that's really good too. That's kind of where Partridge started. It's a different set up tho. Each episode is an episode of the fictional TV show "Knowing Me Knowing You" of which Alan Partridge is the host.
"I'm Alan Partridge" is set a few years later after he has lost his job in TV and just kind of follows him around while he struggles to find work in tv again. And imo it's when Partridge is at it's/his best.

Yeah, i wasn't thinking back that far but Blackadder is great. And agree, from series 2.

I ordered both Alan Partridge and 2,3,4 of Blackadder. I also ordered the Blackadder from 1999. Can't wait!
