latest palitoy MOC prices from this mornings Vectis auction

I too spoke to her on this matter a couple of wks ago buy she said due to the amount of catalogueing she has to do the descriptions will not be of serious detail which is not the answer I wanted to hear :?

But it is up to the individual to do their homework esp if they r thinking of throwing big money on a lot :!: For example I called Vectis to get a detailed description and actually did a FaceTime(video) call which helped a lot. Also Vectis take a lot of their lots down to certain toy fairs ie Sandown Park so one can view them and handle them in the back room if they wish :)
Last years Vectis auction that had the Pali vinyl Jawa I went along to Sandown on the Sat before and actually handled that bad boy outback! Had to wear white gloves

Err! I'm lost what's so special about a 30bk FX-7? Because £8k+ for one of those sure appears insane to me!

Well

1. It's rare...Not sure I'd place it as mega mega uber impossible rare...but rare. Probably rarer than the Tri-Madine!

2. It's a Palitoy Debut Card. i.e. it's the first card on which that figure was released, so anyone looking for a debut Palitoy run needs it

3. People love 30 backs. They have been more popular and harder fought over than the 12 backs since around 2002/3 and that doesn't seem to have changed

4. Considering the above 3 points, a lot of people want one and apparently were prepared to throw money at it

Personally I think it's shocking that things have got that pricey. :?

Thanks for enlightening me.

I find it suprising that an ESB 30 bk would be more sort after than a 12bk. But then again if people will pay big bucks or an FX7 or a General Madine then I guess I shouldn't really be set suprised by anything.

Oh poor her, having to do all that writing and only taking the buyers and sellers cuts. What's that add up to, 40%? My heart bleeds. Outsource it to me, I'll do it for 10%.

"Just do your job" springs to mind.

Or instead of doing her job properly they could just change the website so you can zoom in on the auction picture properly, and assess the condition yourself. Other proper auction houses like Astons do this and it works great.

I wonder why they don't want people to be able to do that?

I even asked for the pics from vectis but no response which is crap too. Customer service lol ... What customer service?

You might be able to tell I'm abit pissed off with them, but I got stung buying an excellent plus moc off them with a tear on it, and that's only the start of it

I agree

Let's face it, they aren't great Characters!!

Though there is something about the Fx7 I like!

It comes down to rarity, completest and money. Put them 3 together and even crappy figures can sell for a lot.

With regards to 30 v 12 I think initially people went for 30 because they couldn't get hold of the first 20. Then they discovered that actually 30's were pretty tough.

ESB Palitoy logo cards are tough. Far tougher than the first 20. As discussed in this thread... 30 backs

That's a bit unfair! Isn't she just an employee and not a partner in the firm?

Think I might have to sign up with Vectis for this April auction - where are they located?

I'm also surprised at some of the prices - I don't know the quality of the pieces but for the 12 backs the DSC and C-3PO seem very reasonable and the Power Droid price wasn't too bad.

I think a lot of people are either super completetists or making investment for the future as I think the prices of these will continue to increase.

Hehe I'm joking abit

But giving misleading descriptions, no zoom on the photo's etc., they look like they're not giving the full facts. Yes people will buy the first time, be disappointed, maybe take a risk the second time, be disappointed. It's not a good business model. Several people on here have already expressed concern at how they operate, so it's not just me.

The DSC and 3PO weren't in great condition to be fair, especially DSC with the card folded in half! The power Droid looked pretty good although I'm not so sure how secure the bubble is (maybe with it being a bulky figure?). I was also surprised to see the condition of some of the 30 backs for the price they went for. I guess that if there aren't that many around then it will always put the price up.

Here's the link and the other ones of interest are on the couple of pages after -

Agree with this. Especially in this day and age with loads of internet bidders. They need to realise they're competing with eBay, etc.

Ian

My standards are lower than most people - I'd love to have that DSC and Power Droid in my collection!

Looking at the prices some of those went for I'd also be happy with them myself. That Hammerhead went for less than the one opened without figure did on ebay the other day! It just shows that the money is always in the quality but at least it means there's some room for collectors with less deep pockets to jump in. I'm just glad I focused on reseals and drop me a P.M. with your 12/20 back's your after and I might be able to help out with a few at some point soon(ish), if the condition isn't a big problem Stevie. :D

The bubble on the power droid was coming away from the card in the bottom right. C3po had a pretty big wave to the card.

I think thats a fair statement to make.If you are going all out to be a reputable auction house, then act the part and dont just think of commission.I call bullshit on any defence of Vectis. If their goods are not described properly, then its both fraudulent and suspicious.Imagine selling a flat screen tv,without disclosing the fact it had a huge scratch on the screen-same scenario. However,i will say that if a person is spending big money on the FX7 without seeing it in person,or without tloser macro,d pics then they are quite simply, thick and have too much money. If i were spending that money,id be willing to drive to see the thing, and take it home with me.Id even fly if need be....

Unfortunately,Palitoy is becoming ridiculous where collecting is concerned.I remember paying £300 for a Palitoy 45 back trooper and a 45 back Palitoy Luke xwing (logo cards) in 2001-2002,thats £300 for the pair.!! Now add another zero on at least...****ing madness.
