latest film/ dvd you have seen

That's one I've wanted to watch for a long time.

I saw Game Night the other week, it's pretty meh. The plot only advances because people make the dumbest possible choice and refuse point black to do anything even remotely sensible. Solid 2 out of 5.

Saw Ready Player One last weekend.

Was mega-hyped for it (big Spielberg fan).

Effects and action camerawork are among the best I have ever seen, they are literally jaw-dropping and the action sequences are top-notch.

But the story suffers badly because they discarded about 80% of Cline's novel.

Ultimately I was disappointed. Nice effects and action are great, but the adapted script is just a hollow shell of a story with not much going for it.

If you haven't read the book before seeing the film you will probably enjoy the film more.

Black Panther- enjoyed it- great world building, characters, action etc. A bit different and can see how it's struck a chord, especially in the States. GOTG is still my fav Marvel film though ;)

Paddington 2- great!

The Big Short- really enjoyed it and nice to get some more insight on the banking collapse. Well directed/acted and entertaining to boot.

Watched Black Pantha yesterday, only because my boy really wanted to see it. I thought it was pretty poor as well, it's an action film and there seemed to be really long periods of just talking. That being said my son really enjoyed it and he's only 5. First thing he said when we left was can we get it on Blu-Ray.

Just watched Infinity War. Not totally sure what to make of it. All very well done etc, but it was almost too much. Really not sure about the ending either. Won't spoil it for anyone, but to me, this feels more devisive than TLJ :?

Watched Alien Covenant last night, pretty good film 8)

Plan on watching Transformers the last knight with my lad later :D

Russ :D

Bit late to the party but just seen it. I'm not a huge fan of superhero movies, they are all far too predictable and samey, but this one was ok. It doesn't feel the near 3 hours that it is and despite having a lot of 'main' characters or big names in it you don't feel any of them are really neglected, unlike say Alien Covenant or the Hobbit, where most of the cast are all interchangeable. Not entirely sure about the ending either. I didn't quite click what was going on until the scene that really gives it away (trying to keep it spoiler free). Needless to say there will be a sequel, and another and another and another. But it's definitely not a bad way to put in nearly 3 hours, and better than most superhero movies.

Watched Deadpool2 last night. It's ok. Not as good as the original and the plot is a bit soppy/gay, but it kills 2 hours. Not sure I'd buy the DVD/bluray mind.

Ohh and his missus gets killed off right at the start so she is hardly in it! She was hot!!!!!!

Watched Eddie the Eagle and what a great film really didn't no much about him. Watched it again with my daughter it was so good.

Love films when someone sticks two fingers up to the establishment and comes out on top.

JUNGLE

A Daniel Radcliffe vehicle that is incredibly well made, shame though that Daniel Radcliffe is in it... absolutely nothing against the lad, he was a wonderful child wizard afterall, but he can't act and ruins a superb piece of film making.
Anyway, its a true story and worth a watch, just be aware that the wizard boy is the main dude in it

Totally agree!

I watched Batman Begins last night, prob the 10th or so time iv'e ever seen it but one of my favourite films.

Yep I watched Solo too on Tuesday in 3D, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, story was good enough for me and the effects were great, and seeing the falcon in 3D was really something special, seeing lightspeed from inside the cockpit with that amount of depth to it was just stunning.

I wasn't going to bother even watching Solo until the bluray but I thought **** it why not, never seen a 3D film before so thought Solo would be perfect for it.

i like the fact radcliffe choose such varied roles/scripts since the potter frachise ended. obviously trying to escape the potter type cast. dorry daniel you always be harry potter! ha ha

Jurrasic World. Meh. It's ok. No more. Acting is fine, effects and CGI are great but the plot makes no sense at all. Bit of a let down. Though, surprise surprise, it's all set up for another sequel.

I saw Solo last Thursday evening, can't make my mknd up.
Better than TLJ of course, nowhere as good as R1, possibly not as good as TFA.
Maybe the best critic was my wife, she slept through more than half of it, on the way home asked:
Why did Han shoot his mate!

Thanks Weasel, off to see JW week after next!
