I recently watched The Social Network, Source Code and The Adjustment Bureau after picking them up in a Blockbuster sale.
Really liked TSN, despite 'Zuckerberg' (I place in inverted commas as I'm not sure how fair and accurate a portrayal it was) being overwhelmingly annoying. Did Eisenberg watch Rain Man in preparation for the role?!
Source Code, I thought was very decent, but nowhere near the 91% Rotton Tomatoes score that encouraged me to buy it in the first place. It had some great ideas, was well-acted and well-paced, but didn't really stand out much, for me, and not really something I'd hurry to watch a second time.
As for The Adjustment Bureau, I was expecting an examination into free will and predestination but it never really went beyond scratching the surface of those concepts. The chemistry between Matt Damon and Emily Blunt (I think I'm in love with that woman) was excellent and I think they carried the film just enough to make it watchable. It holds the 'sci-fi' tag but really it's just a romance film with a religious current running through it that it is never quite prepared to admit. I read the Philip K D1ck short-story on which the film was based a few years ago but the film doesn't really resemble it enough, for me.
Now getting my teeth into my The Thick of It boxset; so far, so good!
