So, a few of you may have seen this on facebook, but I have decided to post here along with a long winded explaination as to how this all came about. You know I love to use a thousand words where ten would suffice.
My collection has been chugging along nicely over the past few years. My goal was always to pick up a moc for every figure. I wasn't too fussed on the moc but I wanted a complete run, just as everyone does.
I have mostly stuck to this, but as you know, you collect and learn, and really find out what you like. As I have broadened my knowledge I have been lucky enough to pick up some real curios. Foreign Mocs, miscards, unusual trilogo combos, and it is these that I really enjoy. A little bit different to what you see all the time.
My moc run has also hit a massive stumbling block, in the form of yak face. Now I was always aware that I would have to pay a premium for the stupid ugly bastard, but the way the current market is, I will not own one. There was the sun damaged one that came up on here. £500 was way over the top but still didn't get it. Then one at echo live. There was a huge bit of the bottom of the bubble cracked out. One good shake and that thing was toast. £600 and it sold no problem.
So I recently have been looking at rationalising my collection and I took the decision to shift a chunk of my Kenner figures. The idea being I will probably look for one of each Kenner cardback variation but keep it at that. One 12, one 20, one 21 then esb, then Jedi. You get the picture. Other than that it's trilogos and foreign variants that I can pick up.
At the same time this particular moc came up across facebook. It had a hefty price tag but not unusual for these things and certainly not unreasonable compared to what a trilogo yak would cost when you consider rarity. As well as that, the condition is absolutely stunning.
So I posted a casual comment on the thread and the owner messaged me. We got chatting, had a great deal of conversation on the price, came to an agreement and then I started selling. Not only did we talk about this piece, but the former owner, Dylan, loves to talk Star Wars and specialises in clipper. I have really broadened my knowledge of Dutch collectibles.
Another thing I have never understood is why people entrust high ticket items to the postal service. So yesterday afternoon I flew out to Amsterdam on the 15:20 from Gatwick. Spent a pleasant few hours chatting Star Wars and then came back on the 21:20 to Gatwick. Deal done, figure in hand and cash difference paid PayPal friends and family as the deal happened.
So now I have this beautiful piece in my collection, a bit of a story and a new friend to talk Star Wars with. I know there is a thread about losing your mojo but stuff like this really keeps you interested.
The speeder bike is one I have been looking for for a while. Complete with box, inserts and leaflets. Luckily I had a surplus of cash.
Sorry for the long winded explainatuon. Now onto the pics.
