Its OK to pull a Rancor Keeper off a beat up card cos there are loads left

http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1104289-3/#post19277076

Why are people so thick - if you want a minty figure go buy a minty figure - don't pull one of a beater card - how ****ing simple is it ?

Very Simple Iain!

For some tho it seems its had to understand! ****wits!

This from "18wheelofsteel""

"The last few years have created a kind of class warfare between vintage collectors. Those who can spend $30k or more on a set of complete high grade vintage carded figures will and those who can't who want any chance of having a complete set of NM figures will buy loose and will pay for them. "

Class warfare?? WTF :?

He is one of the bigger twats on that thread but there are loads of them. I just can't understand their mentality - these are the same stupid, ignorant ****ers that are happy to go Elephant or Lion hunting - cos there's loads left and I am only gonna kill one or two

It is a good job I am banned otherwise I would be getting another ban !

So that's thew rule; holy grails are a no no but everything else is fine.
That's like hunting down tigers, lions and elephants and saying, "well i don't shoot white/albino ones if i see em. Very few of them" *Tiger carcasses everywhere, Elephant tusks strung round his neck*
And there are not LOADS of Rancor Keeper MOCs. Loads would be a million+. How many collectors do you think there are? and will be in the future? That's what one needs to consider before throwing around the word "loads" just cos there's more of something than you want or need right now. And of course, they're not still being produced so how ever many there are we as collectors have a duty to protect and preserve them all (even if our fat dorky self serving arses fancy putting one in a plastic box cos it'll look good next to our Magic the Gathering cards and our Lord of the Rings statuettes)

The Immortal Squirrel Theory:

Consider this, if a particular animal, any, i'll pick… the squirrel (**** loads of them right now and reproducing at a considerable rate), were to stop reproducing right now and were never to reproduce again, and the ones left (millions and millions) were now unable to die from old age (immortal Squirrels, yes) they would, in time, become completely extinct. It may take a decade it may take 4 but eventually every single one of them would disappear. And so will our MOCs will all be gone, eventually. That's a FACT. We as collectors can only speed that process up or slow it down. That's all. We can't stop it but we can quicken the inevitable. It's entirely up to us.

For a lot of these people it's all to do with values - look a U95 Rancor Keeper! To them and this new breed of collector thinking they are getting something special and 'untouched' are thick twats as a) it's been handled by some fat arse yank knob jockey so the whole notion of U grades is false and b) a beat up knackered card still sealed is what has real cache (well it has to me).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, U graders are all ****ing spastics. They need to get dogshit eye AIDS.

heres my rancor moc from my budget moc run! i would never dream of opening it even with the foot poking out of the bubble. daft people i tell you opening cards up there maybe thousands left but theyll never be anymore ever

The "Untouched" part always cracks me up........were they ****ing dropped from the sky into the bubble in the factory. All morons....every ****ing one of them.

Can I throw a spanner into the works, what if you bought a recarded figure that is original, would anyone then open it do retrieve the original figure?

If it was recarded yes. And obviously not try and damage the card although a lot of resealed cards are repaired bubble areas with a laser copy covering the original damage.

If it was a reseal then no.

Cant's see anything wrong with opening a reseal, it's not MOC so you aren't changing that by opening it. And you can always reseal it again later.

If you mean a vintage figure recarded onto a newly printed cardback then yes - although I would say from experience that a lot of these figures are recarded with repro weapons so I wouldn't be expecting much if I did.

If it was a reseal onto an original carback, using an original bubble - and had been done well, then I wouldn't see the point in getting to the figure - however if it was a crap reseal then I don't see any harm

The issue here is numpties (and there seem to be even more of them on RS now) who seem to think that it is OK to rip figures of vintage MOCs - either cos they can, cos they own or just because they don't give a **** about anyone else in the SW community

I my case, I'd be opening a reseal for the cardback, rather than a figure inside. I think my Jawa and General Madine Tri Logo cardbacks started out as reseals.

Reason I asked, there is currently a last 17 R2 with original decal and saber recarded on onto repro card (Trilogo, I think) and bubble. So if anyone looking for an original figure with accessory might consider getting it then open it up for the figure only!!

I would be seriously concerned about the sticker and the weapon if it is on a 'recard' - people like costablanca and blistersisters are notorious for putting repro's onto recards - the buyer comes along thinks, well at least the figure and the weapon are worth around that price - only to find out later if they ever pull them off the card that they have been sold a crock

The other thing I am getting tired of hearing is "They are just toys" If one of these guys was in front of me in person and that statement came out of their mouth...I would break every bone in their body. That mentality begs for violence. Sorry.
