****ING CUSTOMS SLUTS!!!

Here is their 'advice' to us:

Tariff Classification cannot give general advise on the classification of Vintage Toys, therefore not all vintage toys would fall under Commodity Code 9705000090. Each case would have to be looked at on an individual basis, taking into account: (a) if it is over 30 years old, (b) if it is still in the box, (c) it's rarity (d) condition etc. For toys that may be over 30 years old, but not considered to meet the aforementioned criteria may still be classified in Heading 9503 as follows: https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff/headings/9503?country=&day=12&month=1&year=2016

So now the seller/gift giver has to clearly write on the box : 9705000090 Contents: a vintage, unopened in original box, very rare, perfect condition item worth $XXXX. As well as senders & receivers address and that it contains no bombs and is fragile. And pray it does not go 'missing' :P

For future reference "30 year old toy packaging not in production 9705000090 worth $XXXX" is NOT sufficient :( :(

Just been hit with a rather chunky customs bill - several hundred quid I'd sooner spend on beer.

So, do I pay the charge then try and argue it, or argue it first? Official advice seems to be to pay it first, but I think others have said they have had charges revised prior to paying them.

You need to pay first.

Then.................... well, you fill in the claim form and then it's luck of the drawer. I've sent my request for yet more information off and I'm waiting.........

Hi all,

I've just been fleeced by Parcelforce and Royal Mail after buying a few items from the states.

I've paid the bills so I can receive the items buy could some kind chap tell me which form I need to fill in to ask for a rebate?

Many thanks

Joe
