It is difficult to remember that these are kids films, but they are. In much the same way the OT were kids for us. It's just that these are films for kids of a completely different generation.

Us OT elitists are far too protective and selfish over the movies at times i think.

I wanted Lucas to make them for the 77-85 audience. I gues that just wouldn't have made sense if he'd done that.

But, even as kids films, ti still think things could have been tidied up better.

i guess i judge them as a parent and see the enjoyment they bring children. yes they could have been more darker and yes more fluent. but i think it breathed new interest into the original trilogy and hopefully a new generation got to see them (although the amount of times they have been released, you would have to be living in a cave not to have seen them)

Nah Gary is right, I have mates who have never seen any of the Star wars films. I'd tried to show them the light but with no joy.

It is strange, but people like that are common.

I've managed to convert a few. i'll have to work harder on the others.

The prequels weren't aimed solely at kids though as Lucas had to know the older generation of fans would want to watch them.

I cannot watch them to be honest as I always fall asleep at some point !! Some of the storylines seem rushed just to tie them into those from episodes 4 - 6 and rely too much on fancy hi-tech graphics.

Too many of the clones were computer generated, and they just didn't look real.

That ruined it for me a bit.

Too much CGI killed it for me to be honest! Too much of the backgrounds didnt look real - some of the matte paintings that they used with the OT are more realistic,
the clones are amazing but it would have been better with real costumes and actors.

The dialogue is pretty shitty and there is no character that makes you really like them. Han was just brilliant and made up for the crappy things that he had to say.

I'd agree Mace and Yoda were well cool, i quite liked the Emporer in ROTS too; "My little green friend".
