Just checked & I'm the only member online, I know it's become a lot quieter & I am as guilty as most for not being on like I used to be, but dang! I don't think I've ever been the only member online even at 3am.

I need to get posting more frequently as the forum is a thing I would hate to be without, I was not a fan of social media years back & used to spend most of my collecting chat time here, since having to help admin a focus group on FB for what I collect I have become far to distant from quality forum time, I'll try my best to make amends.

In short really just saying hello & sorry for not posting anywhere near as much as I should.

Yeah v Quiet

I log in most days but don't post as much as I used to do

Echo what your saying Frank, would hate to see it dwindle away

Hey Frank, it's been great to see you back posting the last few days/weeks.

I, and others, check in most days, but I must say I rarely talk Star Wars any more.

We must catch up soon!

I don't do social media at all. Never have never will. This forum may be quieter than it used to be, but I still think it has a lot to offer. In my opinion, it has a personal touch and interactivity you don't find anywhere else. The sheer wealth of knowledge here, and the friendliness and helpfulness of its members is hard to beat.

This forum can still be a truly special place. All It takes is willing members.

As above, Jeremy got it in nutshell. It was a shame that so many people jumped ship for the immediacy of FB etc. It's so easy to check in on here every day and drop a couple of posts...

As others have said I check in here 2 to 3 times a day. Always seem to read a post and think ah I'll add to that and for whatever reason forget to contribute.
For me, it's probably because I use my mobile instead of my PC. It's a quick look then put phone down and carry on with what I was originally doing compared to actually sitting down and spending quality time on the forum.
Definitely going to try and be more active on here - SWFUK is just a lovely place to hang out compared the negative **** show of social media

I'm another regular lurker, infrequent poster.
Really should make more effort to post and interact.

If I'd known you'd been going to Echo Live, @Frunkstar , I'd have gone along to say hello and put a face to the name. We've only chatted a couple of times on FB, so you'd probably have no idea who i was :ROFLMAO:

Hi Frank, I agree the forum has become more silent. Also why I started toy of the week again in a hope that more members would be more online, share and just have fun.

unfortunately for myself I have also not been so much online as I wanted. After I found this ****ing dark silverfish in my star wars collection I got stress after cleaning my apartment for weeks. So I have good and bad days. I was just beginning to feel fine after more than a year with stress and Bruxism and then it came back when I got this ****ing bugs and used all my sparetime on cleaning, checking my things and killing bugs. Now I am done checking and cleaning I still find some but getting out of the stress are very hard even after I stop doing what caused the setback. But last week it began to go a lot better. So I hope I will soon be 100% fine again and back on the forum every day.

I sure hope you come full circle & are feeling your old self, things like the silver fish spat can certainly dampen you enthusiasm for the collecting, I do hope you now have that issue under control buddy.

I'm going to make a concerted effort to post more, though it's not as easy as it once was, a lot has been covered a thousand times already & what new discoveries I have in my focus are not of interest to many even though more folks are into baggies now, it's still very much a niche collecting field.

thanks frank (y)

I still reply occasionally when i have something to contribute as i too value this place, my childhood love of SW toys and stuff still runs deep, so try to check in from time to time, miss the old banter of 10 years plus, ago thou some stuff on here was so, so funny in the old days :)

Totally agree Jeremy that all it needs is the input & I must make more of an effort, been doing so the last couple of days, I agree the vibe on here is very different to FB & I miss it's warmth, also much easier to navigate, I sort of got sucked in with FB as I help admin a baggie group on there, only offered to help out in the background & then got he group dumped on me lol, but it's quite different to most FB groups & does not seem to attract the idiots many groups do, it's a fiarly close knit group as baggies are still quite the narrow focus field even now.

I'll as said try to do my bit & contribute where I can going forward.

Indeed it is, I remember being very anti social media & only as I mentioned to Jeremy above got sucked into it eventually due to the specific interest group, it has it's pros but also many cons, here is where the heart is & I need to remind myself of it.

Agreed it's very easy to become distracted by the wealth of **** on social media, glad I only have 1 I use & only really due to the baggie group, but you get sucked down the rabbit hole with reels & shorts & all sorts, luckily I don't have to worry about the smartphone thing as I'm still donning my old nokia brick lol, one choice I have right at least I think.

EDIT: - yes do get posting!! it'll take a lt of the old guard as well as more new blood to see the forum half as active as I once was & we all need to make the effort

Same for most of us, be it on here on FB, talk with some folks for years on a regular basis but would not have a clue if I were standing next to them at an event, Echo's a good place to finally meet up, I met a few new faces on the Echo before last & it was fantastic to put faces to names, it was great to finally have a face to face with Christopher Castwell

it's certainly missing the oooh arrr banter on here now, that's what we need

I remember telling a friend when I first started posting on here that I had joined a vintage Star Wars forum and he was pissing himself. He said what do you talk about? They stopped making the toys years ago. I obviously put him right and said there's always something to talk about on here.

I think it's a combination of things, one is obviously there are a lot more platforms to interact on now than 10-15 years ago. A lot of the big characters that were active on here have gone on to do pod casts. It's also an age thing, so many members on here would have been in there 30's and 40's when it started and now they're in the there late 40's and 50's. Some perhaps in their 60's. I think a lot of the original members liked the forum in the early days because it was a relatively small group that knew each other and could enjoy banter without offending anyone. When it grew those original members stayed in contact privately with each other but without a load of strangers chipping in. It's still here for now, but I do wander what the next 10 years will bring, there is a lot of information on here and it would be a shame if it was lost.

I guess a bunch of middle aged men talking about toys was never going to last forever.

Yeah we need to get the banter back for sure, like all things though in life …life gets in the way, I'm a really old git but still enjoy talking about toys and collecting with my Son he is buying way more than me, so have passed the baton on there a bit!
