Forum performance

I have been told by my hosting provider that the forum is "regularly hitting memory limits" and that when this happens, the site becomes unavailable for a short period.

I have personally not noticed the forum performance being any worse than before. Has anybody else regularly had issues? Like any website it can go down from time to time, but they are claiming it is happening regularly.

I am happy to upgrade if necessary, but I have a sneaking suspicion they are just "up-selling" and trying to make me spend more money

Any opinions welcome!

I am sorry to report that they might not be wrong, although I suppose it does depend on your definition of 'regularly'. I have experienced a few occasions over the past couple of months (perhaps half a dozen or so) where the website has been unavailable for short periods. These have usually been at weekends and haven't lasted for very long, but they have been happening (I check the Forum numerous times over most weekends). I just assumed my ISP (Sky) were being a bit crap, but perhaps your hosting provider is actually correct? :-(

Occasionally the site doesn't load on my phone and sometimes have to try a couple of times but not sure if it's the site or my internet connection ?

I'm on here several times a day every day, and I notice it about every 3 or 4 days I think where the site is unavailable and it lasts for about 5 or 10 mins, I always just assumed it was due to site maintenance you were doing or something.

I log on regularly and occasionally there is no connection to the site, but this is far and few between and only lasts a short period of time, nothing out of the ordinary for me.

Same as most, I'm in and out a few times during the day, more at weekends, I find that in the last four months or so there has been the occasional not able to connect to server message, normally only last a few minutes.

You get sql and server errors a few times a month, not exactly certain how often though. I can start a log if you like?

Never noticed anything beyond what is normal - i.e. down for a few minutes every now and again which I assumed were updates.

Thanks guys, I will keep an eye on it. All websites go down from time to time, but if it is becoming a nuisance I will look in to upgrading so please do keep me posted.

My missus tells me i'm special all the time, but says it in a weird voice and does that inverted comas thing with her hands at the same time. I can only assume she doesnt think she's worthy
