This is simple, and works wonders for page loading speed!

Want Firefox to run 2/3 times faster? Course you do. Read on...

Here's something for broadband (will have the opposite effect for 56kers) people that will really speed Firefox up:

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them)

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now

it seems to work

this system has a bottleneck as it has only 376m of ram so any little tweak helps

my system at home has 1gig and soon will have 2gig

Does anyone else get a message as soon as you put that in the address bar after hitting enter!

Here be dragons and then a message about changing these settings can be harmful to stability, security and performance of this application blah blah blah!

Is that normal gustie?

i have FF2 here

i just did the stuff with no warning

u have FF3 maybe?

works on all appartently

I'll try it but the phone exchange in my part of the world only gives you 1 meg max :( - so 600kb sounds about right for this time of day

BT have said they'll update it eventually
