Fcuked by HM customs!! Just had to pay 30 quid..

Paid more than Ã'£80 before now on stupid customs fees and that was because BT's had put down a value in excess of what i originally paid, i have another bill here for Ã'£30 for a Indiana Jones Figure which only cost Ã'£70!!

BT - if you mean Brian's Toys - they added the postage cost to the value of the item I bought one time - and got me a customs charge

2 reasons i dont spend loads on figures from abroad
1 cant be arsed with hasle
2 our lass would kick my head in if we dont go away 3 times a year

HM Customs and Excise get the Customs fee Lee!
The P.O get **** all, Parcel force charge you the fee for paying the charges on your behalf, normally about Ã'£8-12 quid. They seem to be the ones who are responsible for most parcels that originate outside the UK. Them or UPS.

The postal strike is the old genius idea Unions have when the management point out they are getting murdered by the competition (as the post office are) and the only way to compete is to become more efficient and/or cut some jobs. The Unions in this country take that their cue to go on strike!
After all if your inefficent and over staffed, it's obvious that a strike is the best way to keep your customers happy!
And then they wonder WHY the P.O lost 40% of its customers last year!
This time the Unions also seem to think that becuase they did so well last year they should be due a pay INCREASE as well!

Sometimes I wonder if you actually have to be a retard to run a Union in this country, or just be completely ignorant to basic economics!?

Rant over

not on the subject of customs but read this and i have to say i agree. im a postman myself and i hate all these strikes, i worked the last one because i cant afford to loose Ã'£80 for every strike day. companies need to evolve and change as business trends change and the unions dont seem to get this. as you say, its their cue to strike and cost us money we cant afford. the more the union makes postmen and women strike, the more business will go elsewhere!! ok, back to customs, bastards!!!!! as far as i know, royal mail dont help the situation, ive been told they dont charge but since becoming a postman, i found out i think they charge around Ã'£8.00, rip off.

I think you gys jinxed me!

I got my first ever note from the PO today telling me thye couldn't deliver a parcel to me. I had to pay them Ã'£11.51, of which eight ****ing quid was their service charge!
How the **** they justify a service charge that is more than twice the value of the VAT your charged I don't know!

Could be worse Darth you could be of middle eastern descent, then you'd get stopped everytime you tried to go anywhere

its them who dont get stopped as the customs will be done for racism.
so you could by loads of stuff from the states and then send a muslim on a cheap flight to bring them back.only thing you have to worry about is them big buildings that get in way of there planes

i just got stung Ã'£60 for a $500 buy from brians toys, making the total postage cost Ã'£90
who says buying from the USA is cheaper

Oooowww, that musta hurt! :(
That's adding on about a third to the cost of the figure!
Really does make buying from the States more expensive, unless you can convince the seller to stick a low value on the customs form.

Well heres a thing

this last week the overseas post has been ultra quick on saturday i was told 3 things had been shipped to me, one was from tampa bay that i paid express mail for and it arrived first thing on wednsday and the other was from canada express mail and that came on wednesday too and the other item which was just regular airmail from millawaukee at a cost of only 12 bucks came on thursday morning all were put down as 20 dollar gifts :)

i bet if they had been sent with full price i still be waiting now for them to get through customs

afa however seems to take 2 weeks to get to me from once they sent it which is weird

if the overseas postal service continues to be this quick i might get a few more bits overseas

Your having more luck than me Lee, I'm waiting for 3 things from the States and they are taking ****ing ages!
One cleared Miami Friday week ago, it should have arrived by now, even allowing for the PO strike.

I'm gonna be getting someone to pick something up for me in a month or two in the US (it's a Transformer, Jabba might be interested :p) and it's gonna cost them $60 and then shipping, would putting it as $20 Gift be a good idea?

I always ask the seller to declare a $70 dollar gift in the hope of getting back at least $70 if things get lost!

am totally fed up with custom and royal mail charges in the past 4 weeks i been hit with Ã'£180 in charges you think your geting a bargin from america but by the time you get hit with the charges is it really worth it

Do you ask seller to declare lower values?
