That 4-1 kicking Liverpool gave them at Anfield towards the end of the season was a humiliation for JT. Sure, it was a weakened Chelsea side, no arguments there, (mind you a "full strength" Liverpool team was hardly a prospect to strike fear into many top PL sides last season! Actually, scratch that, it wasn't a prospect to strike fear into ANY PL sides last season!) but Andy Carroll tore him apart.
Think of what Torres, at his peak, did to Vidic in a couple of the Pool V's United games from 3 or 4 years ago.........only this was worse.
Torres, at that time was one of the hottest strikers in European football, Andy Carroll, ehhh isn't!
JT was the worst player on the pitch that night! I was actually embarrassed for him. The rest of the Chelsea team were carrying him. If you play a weakened side you don't expect your skipper and most experienced player to be the worst on the pitch! Sure, everyone has bad days, but this was something else. For me it just confirmed JT is very much on the downward slope (as are Rio, Lampard, Gerrard etc).
